1955 XK140 Roadster C Type cylinder head.
Wow, not sure where to start with this one, it is simply stunning. It is finished in a super colour combination of British racing green with Suede green leather interior and a dark green mohair roof.
It has had a full body off nut and bolt rebuild approx 12 years ago and has had little use since.
We have a heritage certificate stating that it was originally exported to America and was sold new by a dealer called Hoffman in California. Date of manufacture was 31/01/1955. It also clearly shows that it is in its original BRG with green trim.
The car has had no expense spared as is quite obvious when you look at the condition overall.
Starting from the chassis up one can clearly see that everything has been restored or renewed.
Here is a brief but honest description:-
The bodywork is exceptionally clean, straight and tidy. Being a dark colour usually shows up all the nasty imperfections and considering this was restored some time ago it really is in outstanding condition, there are no sink marks, no ripples and it has a really deep shine. The paint is actually cellulose finish and we do have some of the paint just in case. The back end of the car is all new, the bonnet, boot lid, doors, bulk head, and a large proportion of the front wings are all original. All of the chrome has been replaced or replated.
The leather interior again is excellent, infact it really looks like it has just been retrimmed and refitted. The hood which is stowed behind the seats is made of green mohair and does not look like it has been used. Period 4 spoke wood rim steering is not original but this is what the customer asked for. All of its instruments are present and correct.
Mechanically again everything has been overhauled or replaced. The engine is fitted with a rare C type cylinder head and has new pistons, chains etc, it has also had a new clutch fitted, all of the suspension, steering and brakes have all had the same treatment. New stainless exhaust system together with new manifolds, new radiator complete with Kenlowe fan for modern driving. All of the wiring has been replaced from front to back. All of the anciliaries have been restored. It does have a modern high torque starter motor fitted which I think is a great mod. Fuel system overhauled together with a new petrol tank.
All five 16in wire wheels are new and these are fitted with the correct Avon turbospeed crossply tyres.
Fitted also with period spot/fog lights, and a period boot lid mounted luggage rack.
To sum up, what a fantastic opportunity to own this wonderfully restored piece of british motoring history. It has had quite simply a superb restoration and really wants for nothing.
It is located in Bromley, Kent.

I am the new owner of the XK 140 shown above and apart from the infernal fuel pump she is fantastic!
Any information as to her life in the USA would be appreciated

The May Sale 2017
1955 Jaguar XK140 SE
Lot No.: 322
Registration: VSL 116
Chassis Number: S810874
Engine Number: G2301-8S
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3400cc
Year of Manufacture: 1955
Estimate (£): 75,000 - 85,000
This superb, left-hand drive XK140SE left Browns Lane on the last day of January 1955 and was shipped to California by the legendary Jaguar distributor, Max Hoffman. In 1998 the car was repatriated by John Condon on behalf of a customer (a well known London restaurant owner at the time) to be totally restored and when finished, added to his collection in Cyprus. The restoration took over five years and was completed to a very high standard. Our vendor believes, but can't confirm, that the work was carried out by Fender-Broad in Bristol, restorers of some repute.
Sadly the owner passed away and it was handed back to John Condon to sell on behalf of the estate. Unfortunately, all the details of the restoration were in Cyprus and have been unavailable.
Our vendor purchased this lovely Jaguar in 2014, and although generally excellent, spent a further £5,500 bringing the car back to the amazing condition in which you see it today. The engine had been fully rebuilt less than 600miles/14 years ago but he spent £3,000 in 2015 on a full service and recommission. The brakes have been stripped and rebuilt, the tachometer and the time clock serviced by Speedy Cables, and a correct stainless steel exhaust system fitted along with a new fuel pump and coil. New side-screens have been tailor made and they complement the gleaming 'Piano-finish' British Racing Green coachwork and the Suede Green mohair hood really well. The superb interior is also finished in Suede Green and the door tops and dash top are covered in Olive Green leather.
The car is accompanied by a few original tools, an Instruction Manual and its Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
As part of a ten car collection, the Jaguar is only lightly used and naturally, cherished. Our vendor tells us that "Most people would rate the condition as perfect....I would say it's excellent." however, this stylish, fifties, classic Jaguar is undoubtedly a lovely example.
