Private Party or Dealer: Dealer
This 1956 Jaguar XK140 is a rolling project originally distributed by Jaguar of Los Angeles, California. It received exterior and interior color changes under previous ownership and is believed to have resided in the San Francisco Bay Area and Oregon prior to the seller’s recent acquisition. The numbers-matching 3.4L inline-six and C-type head have been retained and is mated to a numbers-matching four-speed manual gearbox. Acquired by the seller in a largely disassembled state. This XK140 project is now offered by Cascadia Classic at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, a period registration card, an assortment of parts, and a clean Oregon title.
This XK140 was originally finished in Dove Grey and presently wears a faded white and partially primed finish. Perforated areas of metal are noted at each rearward door jamb support, photos of which are shown in the gallery. The soft top frame and side curtains are included in the sale.
Factory knock-off wire wheels show surface wear and corrosion and are mounted with an older set of Atlas radial tires of one side, and a set of Pirelli tires on the other. The seller notes the car rolls and steers, though the steering rack mount rubber has delaminated.
The cabin was trimmed in Suede Green leather with Biscuit piping from the factory and was subsequently reupholstered in black while under previous ownership. A factory steering wheel, centralized dash panel, and Smiths gauges are present. The 5-digit mechanical odometer indicates just under 40k miles.
The numbers-matching 3.4L twin-cam inline-six features dual SU carburetors and is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. The engine does not turn freely by hand, though the gearbox shifts freely according to the selling dealer.
Engine number G3150-8S is shown stamped in the block and matches the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and corresponding plate. Chassis, body, and gearbox match the numbers listed on the JHT certificate.
An assortment of new and used parts accompanies the car, along with the top frame and side curtains as shown further in the gallery below. Absent items noted by the seller include the generator, inner headlight trim retainers, forward sheet metal section for the spare tire well, forward section of the transmission tunnel, portions of the passenger seat frame, and parking brake handle.
The 2020 Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and component numbers, as well as initial distribution through Hornburg, Los Angeles, California.
