Vintage Motor Cars at Meadow Brook
Saturday, July 31, 2004
1956 Jaguar XK 140MC Roadster
ESTIMATE: $75,000 - $90,000
CHASSIS NO: S812056
Fromerly the Property of Briggs cunningham and a 1993 JCNA National Champion
160hp 442cc twin overhead cam inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed transmission with electronic overdrive, torsion bar independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 96"
This Olde English white with red leather example is understood to have once belonged to noted race car driver, enthusiast and collector Mr. Briggs Cunningham. It is in excellent overall condition as it was the recipient of a body-off, frame-up restoration by Jack LeClaire that left nothing to chance. Stripped to bare metal and subsequently resprayed this Jaguar is utterly breathtaking and highly correct. The current owner and collector informs us that this specific XK 140MC has always had a successful show history and was featured as one of the six cars displayed at the 1992 Eyes on the Classics show. Additionally, it was a 1993 JCNA National Champion, repeating yet again in 1994 as the JCNA Class Champion.
With its Dayton wire wheels and Connolly leather interior the XK 140 offered here is an attractive example that is a very fit running car. With its high performance C-Type heads and dual exhaust this highly presentable XK 140MC is not to be missed as few cars offer such a unique pedigree and provenance.
