This 1956 Jaguar XK140 roadster is finished in satin black over tan upholstery and is powered by a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear axle. Additional equipment includes a black soft top and matching tonneau cover along with bucket seats, a dual exhaust system, power steering, disc brakes with Wilwood front calipers, and 16” knock-off wire wheels. The car was reportedly acquired by the late husband of the current owner in 2011 and is said to have been subsequently refurbished including a repaint along with refreshing the interior and rebuilding the engine. This XK140 roadster is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, a car cover, and a Massachusetts title.
The car left the factory finished in Pacific Blue and was repainted in its current satin black finish as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a black soft top and a matching tonneau cover along with front driving lights and LED tail lights.
Chrome-finished 16” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are wrapped in Firestone Cavalino Sport 200 tires. A full-size spare is stored in the trunk. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs with Wilwood calipers up front, while additional equipment is said to include power steering and stainless steel brake lines.
The cabin features bucket seats that were reportedly sourced from a Jaguar E-Type and are trimmed in tan upholstery with matching door panels and carpets. Additional equipment includes a custom center armrest, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and a passenger grab handle.
The four spoke steering wheel fronts a central woodgrain instrument panel that houses Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six is said to have been rebuilt and is stamped with G9625-8S. Modifications reportedly include a high-output starter and alternator, an electric cooling fan, and a dual exhaust system. The seller recommends changing the oil.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a replacement five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear axle that was reportedly sourced from an XK150. Additional modifications include installation of a lightweight aluminum flywheel, according to the seller.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors, identification numbers, and a build date of March 30, 1956. The Massachusetts title lists the car as a “coupe.”
