Car to be at auction 3/25

www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-209---1956-jaguar-xk140-se-roadster/

Auction description:

1956 Jaguar XK140 SE Roadster

Estimate £55,000 - £70,000

Registration: US registered

Chassis No: S 812318

Engine No: G 7509-8S

Mileage: tba

• Imported from the USA

• Matching numbers

• Partly restored and to an excellent standard

• Superb opportunity to complete a stunning rebuild

• Offered with all the essential parts to complete the restoration

This wonderful example was dispatched new on 24th April 1956 and was built for the American market in left hand drive guise. More recently the XK140 was acquired and imported to the UK by a specialist restorer who undertook a huge amount of work to get it to the condition you see today. The chassis was completely stripped and restored as were the panels which were stripped back to bare metal and repaired and replaced where necessary and an extensive respray was undertaken in the superb colour of Dove Grey that you see today. The XK benefits from a new interior including the seats which were retrimmed to a very high standard. No ready to be fitted to the car. Also completed at this time was an overhaul of the instruments, new tyres, refurbished chromework, hood frame overhauled, and brand-new brake pipes throughout. The list of works goes on and the XK comes complete with all the essential parts to complete the restoration including the windscreen, interior, engine block and ancillaries and many chrome fittings. The opportunity to acquire an XK140 SE Roadster in this condition is very rare, it wouldn’t take much to complete this project and once done it will offer the new owner huge amounts of fun and will surely be a sound investment. Offered at a fraction of the cost of the build this is a great example and a straightforward project in the right hands. Offered with a history file with sundry bills, the US title document, its heritage certificate and photographs of the car. Interested parties should note that this XK was purchased by the vendor in need of total restoration, when complete and ready for registration the new owner will be required to pay the import tax which we believe will cost circa £1,000 (this is an estimated cost and cannot be guarantee).
