    Car at Gooding & Co. auction 1/10

    www.goodingco.com/auction/index.php

    Auction description:

    Lot 171

    Scottsdale 2010

    1956 Jaguar XK140 Roadster

    Chassis No. S812427DN

    Engine No. G7576-8S

    * Multiple Award Winner

    * Comprehensive 2009 Restoration

    * Rare Overdrive Option

    * Certified by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust

    * Believed to Be a 3-Owner Example

    Estimate: $100,000 - $130,000

    SOLD $104,500

    This stunning XK open two-seater roadster boasts a number of qualities that heighten its desirability. Primarily, this Jaguar features the special equipment of the “MC” package, a fabulous option combination comprised of the “M” package (including a crankshaft damper, wire wheels, dual exhaust pipes, and twin fog lamps) as well as the high-compression C-type cylinder head that raised brake horsepower by 20 for a stout 210 BHP. This roadster is also capable of almost 130 mph due to its rare factory-installed Laycock de Normanville overdrive which was featured in only approximately 550 of the almost 9,000 XK140 examples that were produced over the model’s three-year lifespan.

    In addition to its fine factory specifications, this handsome Jaguar has benefited from the discriminating care of as few as three owners. The consignor assures that a full restoration was completed in early 2009, performed by a marque expert with over 20 years of experience in concours-quality automobiles. Since then, the car has been successfully exhibited at two JCNA meets where it averaged a spectacular score of 99.8%, placing First in Class at the Dallas Jaguar Concours d’Elegance in September 2009 and winning Peoples’ Choice at the San Antonio Jaguar Concours d’Elegance in October 2009. Furthermore, this stunning XK won Best of Show at the Annual McPherson College car show held in McPherson, Kansas, in May 2009.

    This fine XK140 has been certified to be an authentic, matching-numbers example by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and is offered with its original factory tool kit and owner’s manual. In addition to its Gun Metal Gray top, the car also features a canvas tonneau that matches its original factory shade of flawlessly detailed Pearl Gray paint. Impeccably restored to the highest level of authenticity, this show-winning XK140 Roadster is a breathtaking example of the timeless, sleek design of the purest of the XK models.
