This 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC roadster is a non-running project that was reportedly purchased new by the seller’s great-uncle, who passed it to the seller’s late father in 1963. The car is said to have remained in storage since the 1970s and features a 3.4-liter twin-cam inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It is finished in black over a red interior and equipped with a body-color removable fiberglass hardtop with side curtains, dual SU carburetors, and knock-off wire wheels. This XK140 is being offered with a tool kit, an owner’s manual, and a clean California title in the name of the seller’s late father.
The car wears faded black paintwork that shows areas of fading, paint loss, and scratches. Exterior features include front driving lamps, a chrome side mirror, and a body-color removable fiberglass hardtop with side curtains. Corrosion is visible on the bumpers and prior bodywork is noted ahead of the front and rear wheels. The seller notes that the soft top is in poor condition.
The wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with older whitewall tires with a mismatched rear passenger-side tire. The seller notes that the brakes are seized.
The cabin houses seats trimmed in red with a matching dashboard, door panels, and faded carpets. A rear-view mirror is mounted atop the dash, and map pockets are found in both doors. The hardtop is not equipped with a headliner. Additional photos showing the condition of the interior are provided in the gallery.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a centrally-mounted 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission.
Cylinder head stamping G9005-8S is shown above, and the chassis plate is viewable below.
The car is titled using engine number G9005-8S, though the title lists a “5” in place of the “S”.
