Model: XK140mc Roadster
Year: 1956
Vehicle Description:
This auction is for a 1956 XK140mc Roadster. This Jaguar comes with a Heritage Certificate from the Jaguar Heritage Trust. Furthermore, it comes with a clear florida title. The data plate that's with this car is original. The numbers that are on the data plate are as follows: Chassis number s812827, engine number g8981-8s, body number f12897, and gearbox number jl 36071cr. This XK140 came from the Jaguar factory with all of the rare options such as the more powerful mc cylinder head and an overdrive transmission. This Jaguar also came with another very rare option from the Jaguar factory, which is a close ratio gearbox. The production numbers for all XK140 roadsters were around 3000 units. It's said that the XK140mc version with the overdrive gearbox is very rare and that the quantity that were made with the mc cylinder head and overdrive togeather was very low. This Jaguar has all matching numbers exept for the cylinder head, engine block, and gearbox. When this car was purchased in 2007, the orginal motor and gearbox were not with the car, so an orignal mc engine was purchased off of ebay, and it was profesionally rebuilt in 2009. The major rebuild kits were also purchased for the carberators and they were rebuilt. The numbers that are stamped on the engine that was installed in this car are g3637-8s. This engine was purchased from a reputable vintage Jaguar parts seller.
The seller of this fine vehicle has been a Jaguar collector and parts collector for 7 years, so he knows where to find rare parts. Shortly after he purchased the original mc engine block, he called a repuputable vintage Jaguar parts guy named Don Westerdale, and bought an original factory mc cylinder head. Included in the listing is a picture of the c that's in the middle valley of the head. This picture clearly shows a perfect c stamp that the factory placed there. The numbers that are on the front of the head between the cams are g9747-8s. The cylinder head was profesionally rebuilt and the aluminum engine pieces were polished to show standard sm. The seller also had the original radiator recored. The engine currently runs strong and is quiet. The sellers mechanic has the car setup where it can be cranked up by hooking the cables up to a battery and then removing them when you want the car to shut off.
This seller has had all of the mechanical work completed on this Jaguar. He had the chassis sandblasted to bare metal and then had it profesionally powdercoated to show standards. Everything mechanical on the chassis was replaced with new factory componets. He had new stainless steel exhuast installed as well as new rear leaf springs and a new gas tank. He also had all of the metal work completed on this car. The d posts, door sills, trunk floor and trunk sides were profesionally replaced with orignal replacement pieces that were made in england by a company called Leaping Cats. He had all of these pieces profesionally installed on this car. He also had new door skins installed. The body on this car is perfect with no rust anywhere. The bonnet and decklid are in great shape and fit the car nicely. The body is ready for the block work to begin and then paint.
The front & rear bumpers and bumperetts were profesionally rechromed to a high standard as well as the windshield side posts. The rims and tires are brand new (Dayton 60 Spokes). The seller can help the winning bidder locate an orignal convertable top frame. The body of this Jaguar isn't shimmed or bolted down but it is still secure enough for transport with no issues. The seller has over $95,000 invested in this car. He has already spent a lot of money in order to make it really nice. He doesn't have the funds neccesary to finish this car.
