Car was listed on Ebay Oct-18-2005

Ebay auction ID: 4582071822

With a Buy-It-Now price of US $13,000.00 there were 8 bids to a price of US $6,322.22 (Reserve not met)

Vehicle Description

This is a 1955 XK140MC FHC restoration project. This jaguar has a manual transmission. This is a rare jaguar I read that out of the 2800 fixed coupes produced only 560 were MC models. This Jaguar is all matching numbers, the Chassis# is s814176 Engine# g3289-8s Body# j4275 Gearbox# jl28858 This jaguar has had its chassis and body bead blasted. The chassis is really nice with only topical surface rust present. The body is also really solid with only surface rust present. This jaguar is mostly complete. All of the glass comes with this car, except for the windshield glass. The D posts and floor sills, and battery box need to be replaced. This jaguar comes with alot of new sheetmetal pieces, they include a new battery box, floor sills and d posts. The trunk floor also needs to be replaced, also this car comes with two new turn signal metal pods. The bonnet and doors and decklid are in good shape. The engine doesn't currently run, but it's complete and it does turn freely. The transmission looks to be in good shape as well. This car also comes with a new drive shaft tunnel sheet metal. This car doesnt come with any interior pieces, however it does come with seat backs and seat frames. It also comes with rear bumpers and overrides. This car is a wire wheel car, and the wire wheels seem to be in ok shape, the tires currently hold air. On the passenger side rear quarter panel, the lower half of the panel has been cut off where the rust ate through it. Other than that area the body is very solid. This car is located in Westminster Maryland for pickup. I'm starting the first bid at 2,000 with a reserve, and a buy it know price of 13,000

Sellers description:
This is a 1957 XK140MC coupe restoration project. This car is numbers matching, and comes with a clear title. This cars vin plate numbers are as follows: chassis:s814176 engine:g3289-8s body:j4275 gearbox:jl28858 This car doesn't run, but the engine turns freely. This car was recently sanded down and epoxy primered. This car is located in Maryland. This car comes with many new sheet metal pieces that will need to be installed. 1 new battery box assembly, 2 new d posts assemblies, new trunk area assembly,1 driveshaft cover, 2 plinth aprons, 2 new metal floors, 2 new wood floor pieces,1 passenger side rear quarter panel lower patch panel near the front door, 2 turn signal pods. The body of this car is solid with no rust present. The doors, bonnet and decklid are in great shape. There is some minor dents on the rear panel right below the trunk that needs to be fixed. The old door sills were professionally removed from the car as well as the front turn signal pods. The chassis is solid with no rust present just road grime. This jaguar is almost complete missing these items: rear window glass, rear side window glass both sides, front windshield glass. the front headlight chrome rings are missing as well as the headlights. The interior is all missing exempt for the seat frames and the seats themselves. This car would be a great candidate for restoration. There was 2800 units produced of the standard xk140 coupe. Although the number of MC versions aren't documented there said to be really rare.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
