Since our client has owned the car he has added some tasteful upgrades to the interior, has maintained the car and fixed many may items as an artist and sculpture he is meticulous, the car is simply put like a piece of Jewelry. This 1955 Jaguar XK140 fixed-head coupe was built on June 10, 1955 as a Special Equipment model and was originally distributed through Los Angeles, California. Finished in Imperial Maroon over Biscuit leather, the car was restored between 2010 and 2013, by the previous owner, and has since been the recipient of numerous awards. Power is provided by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six, which is equipped with a C-Type cylinder head and backed by four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The car was acquired in 2014 by the seller, a former ASE master technician who has since driven it approximately 8k miles and personally performed much of the maintenance carried out during that period. Work included installing an electronic ignition, reconditioned generator, new brake master cylinder, spin-on oil filter conversion, and more. This XK140 is now offered for sale with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, awards, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in black, the car received a bare-metal repaint in Imperial Maroon during the restoration. As a Special Equipment model, it came equipped from the factory with fog lamps and J-headlights. A Jaguar mascot and leather strap have been added to the bonnet. Noted imperfections include a few blemishes in the paint and small abrasions on the side glass. A new windshield was installed in 2016.

Chrome wire wheels come wrapped in a set of Firestone Cavallino Sport 200 tires from Coker. Braking is managed by four-wheel drums, and the system received a new master cylinder, rear brake shoes, and rear wheel cylinders in 2014.

The cabin is trimmed in Biscuit leather over matching Wilton wool carpets. A set of sheepskin seat covers is included with the car, and a pair of lap belts has been installed. The center console and rear shelf are custom removable items, built by a local cabinet maker in burl wood that matches the dash. Dynamat insulation has been added to the front floorboards. 

The Moto Lita steering wheel has also been fitted with burl wood to match the dash and center console. A stock steering wheel and center hub accompany the sale. The cigar lighter and clock are currently inoperable, and an automatic antenna remains installed, though no radio is present. The windshield washer has been disabled. Smiths instrumentation includes a 6k-rpm, reverse-sweep tachometer, and a 140 mph speedometer. 11k miles are currently shown on the five-digit odometer, approximately 8k of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six was rated for 210 horsepower in SE/MC trim, which added a C-Type head, larger dual exhaust, and dual SU carburetors. The latter were sent out by the seller in September 2014 to be overhauled. Upgrades include a Pertronix ignition, Ron Davis aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, and a spin-on oil filter adapter. A valve adjustment was performed in 2015, and the aluminum valve covers were also resurfaced and polished that year. A recent compression test revealed 150 psi or more across all six cylinders as shown in the gallery below.

Cylinder head stamping G3915-8S matches the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and data plate. The engine block is a replacement unit from an XK150 that was installed under previous ownership. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox with a Laycock overdrive.

The JHT certificate lists an original color combination of black over red, and also that the car was first owned by A.W. Montgomery of Altadena, California.

A jack, grease gun, and spare tire reside in the trunk. No tool kit is included in the sale.

The car was refurbished between 2010 and 2013, and service during current ownership included replacing the headlight switch and repairing the front carburetor float. This XK140 is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with a removed steering wheel, a knockoff hammer, awards, and a clean California title.
