This offering presents a remarkably good opportunity for restoration. A Colorado barn-find, this 140 still enjoys a strong chassis after 60 years of life. Over the last 30 years, this car has seen two owners in the dry climates of Colorado and Wyoming. Originally a German delivery car, this example was loaded from the factory in SE spec which then included options such as the rare overdrive gearbox and foglamps. Swapped years ago, the overdrive is no longer with the car. Original glass remains throughout and, while not currently installed, hard-to-find windshield and rear window trim are included with this car. The matching #'s engine includes the "C-Type" cylinder head; rated to increase power output by 20-30bhp. Missing few parts - jack, air-cleaners for the twin SU carburettors and a washer bottle - we are lucky to present a nearly complete example of one of the most beautiful British cars of all time. Sharing commonalities with both the XK-120 and 150, the 140 benefits her owners with timeless styling coupled with a community wealth of parts and information. An excellent starting point for the enthusiastic restorer!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
