Sellers description:
Original, un-restored XK140 MC out of long term storage. We purchased this car from the 2nd owner who has had it in his family since 1962.

This car has matching numbers.

We have recently installed a new master cyl along with all new wheel cyl, new exhaust, rad hoses and reinstalled the fuel tank after cleaning and sealing. We have also installed new points, plugs and wires.

The engine starts easily and has good oil pressure. It runs cool although we have not driven it to any significant length. The gearbox shifts smoothly and quietly. All the instruments work properly (not sure about the clock tho). The fuel sending unit may need to be replaced as it is erratic. The suspension feels good, and corners well. The 15+ year old tires look good, but would benefit from (and I would recommend) replacement.

This is probably the most solid XK140 I have ever seen tho there is a small rust spot forward of the right rear wheel in the inner fender. The body gaps are near perfect for a car of its age. The doors close effortlessly and quietly. As best as I can tell, it's been repainted once (original color). The paint is not perfect, but good enough for a daily driver. The chrome is very nice. The car has its original tool kit and handbook. I have included of photos of the battery areas as they are rust free.

It was necessary to unbolt the spare tire tray when the fuel tank removed/refit It will be re-installed by auctions end. On a side note, most XK140s only have a 12v battery located in the passenger side front fender. This car from new, was set up with 2 6v. One in either front fender.

The grey leather interior is original to the car has no rips or holes. There is a little wear on the drivers bolster. The carpet is faded but original. If I were to keep the car, I would not replace it. The wood dash and door trim are beautiful. I believe the door panel material has been replace. The radio illuminates when turned on, but there is no sound. It either doesn't work, or I haven't given it time to warm up. The headliner is original and could use a good cleaning. There is a small hole behind the drivers sun visor.

Please keep in mind; this is not a restored car. It is an un-molested 56 year old original car out of long term storage. The paint, upholstery, mechanics and chrome will show some wear.

In my opinion, the new owner should provide what little maintenance it needs to maintain and leave the rest alone. These cars are only original once.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
