This 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC is a fixed head coupe that was completed on October 4, 1955, distributed in the US via Hoffman Cars of New York City, and exported to The Netherlands in the late 1990s. Power is from a 3.4-liter twin-cam inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car has been repainted black over tan upholstery. Features include dual SU carburetors, Lucas front driving lamps, black-finished knock-off wire wheels, and fender-mounted side mirrors. Work in April 2022 consisted of replacing the battery, spark plugs, and wheels. This XK140 is being offered with a Production Record Trace certificate and Dutch registration.
Finished from the factory in Pastel Green, the bodywork was repainted its current shade of black some time prior to its importation to Europe. Exterior features include Lucas front driving lamps, fender-mounted side mirrors, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The fitment of the doors was reportedly adjusted in preparation for the sale.
Black-finished 16” knock-off wire wheels were installed in April 2022 and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A full-size spare is found in the trunk. The four-wheel drum brake cylinders were cleaned in April 2022, and the fluid was changed at that time.
The cabin was trimmed in Suede Green from the factory and has since been reupholstered in tan. Woodgrain trim extends from the dashboard to the tops of the door panels, and beige carpets line the floors. Circular holes for speakers have been cut in both inner kick panels and covered with black fabric.
A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a trio of auxiliary displays. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 52k miles, though total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the horn button is inoperable.
The 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and was fitted with a replacement battery and spark plugs in April 2022. An oil change was also performed at that time.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Portions of the chassis were reportedly undercoated in April 2022.
The Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers.
