Sellers description:
This is a 1955 or 1956 Jaguar XK 140 rolling chassis and engine from my late fathers estate. The brakes were rebuilt years ago and this chassis has been stored for many years. I do not know a lot about this but I will be as open and honest as I can as I do not want to mislead ANYONE! This chassis is in remarkably good condition and does not appear to have any past collision repairs. I am able to find only one small rust damage area as shown in the pictures and should be an easy fix. The suspension appears to be very tight and complete as does the steering sector. I believe dad may have replaced the ball joints and some suspension parts because they are nice and snug as they should be. The engine is not stuck but I am sure it should be rebuilt since its history is unknown. The car appears to have been fitted with an automatic transmission from the factory as I find no evidence of a clutch assembly on the frame. This is a very sturdy example and would be well suited for rebuilding an XK 140. I have many other parts that I will be listing later as I do not have the time to devote to rebuilding this. The tires are very good Avons and have been stored mostly deflated with the chassis up on stands so no weight has been on the tires. I have not seen any dry rot on the tires. The wheels are very good and have been cleaned, blasted and painted. The wheels and chassis are only dusty from the years of storage. I urge the buyer to come and look at this chassis yourself so as to know the exact condition before the auction end.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
