The engine is in fact a much earlier 8:1 compression XK140 engine - G1261-8S, fitted with later 2inch carbs.

To clarify - I have owned the car since 1991 (purchased from a shop in California), raced it until 1999, having replaced the auto box, and with the XK140 engine G1261-8S, with a straight port head and two(2) off 2 inch SU carbs, giving 245 bhp.
The car was then restored to as new with overdrive Moss box, LHD retained, including bare metal respray, new mechanicals, hard and soft trim and wood, with the same 245 bhp setup including head and carbs retained, but the car in a road-going configeration.

After many years of being fitted with another XK140 engine, the car has now had its original rebuilt engine and correct C-type head fitted.
