This 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC is a fixed-head coupe that was distributed to the United States via Jaguar Cars of New York and originally sold in California, where it was acquired by the seller in 2020. Finished in black over red leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a C-type cylinder head, dual SU carburetors, 16″ knock-off wire wheels, Lucas driving lamps, and burl wood interior trim. This XK140 is now offered with a service manual, Thor knockoff hammers, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was refinished in the factory black under previous ownership. Exterior details include chrome bumpers with overriders as well as a split windshield, Lucas driving lamps, dual fender-mounted side mirrors, bright window trim, and dual exhaust outlets. The wipers are inoperative, and paint imperfections are present on the cowl and fuel filler lid. An antenna was previously fitted and its mounting point has since been covered using a grommet.
Chrome 16″ wire wheels are secured via two-eared knockoffs and wrapped in 185-series Firestone Cavallino Sport 200 tires, while a matching spare wheel is mounted with a BFGoodrich tire and stored in the trunk. The XK140 was equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, and MC examples featured heavier torsion bars. The front and rear brake drums have been painted red, and the wheel cylinders were reportedly rebuilt in 2016.
The cabin is upholstered in red and features pleated leather seats and burl wood trim. Appointments include a telescoping steering column, chrome fittings, tinted sun visors, a white cloth headliner, a heater, and a velvet-lined dashboard storage drawer. The left door panel trim is cracked, and chips in the paint are visible along the door sills.
The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles, though the total mileage is unknown. Markings are visible on the binnacles, and the speedometer is inoperative. The horn is operated via a button located below the dashboard.
The 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with a C-type cylinder head, dual SU carburetors, polished cam covers, and a Lucas ignition coil. Work performed in 2016 is said to have involved servicing the radiator and replacing the water pump, head gasket, and spark plugs. Leaks around the oil pan and fuel pump are noted by the seller. Photos of the engine block stamping are provided in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes corrosion on the underside.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the original colors, powertrain numbers, and production date, as well as distribution through Jaguar Cars New York. A service manual and two Thor knockoff hammers will also accompany the car.
