Opening bid $18,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. 78k miles.

Sellers description:
This car is under restoration. Body work mostly completed, inner metal work completed, frame is completed, motor is rebuilt .020 over, chrome is replated. Also comes with matching numbers.

I have owned this car for 25 years and am sadly forced to sell. This car has great potential for restoration. Well worth over $95,000 once fully restored right.

This car has the MC package which is highly sought after. Only few of these special options were available in 1955. It was the most desirable XK ever made.

Jaguar XK140 Drop-Head Coupe
Registration Number: EU taxes paid
Chassis Number: S817433DN

Having just undergone a complete restoration and riding on new chrome wire wheels, this example looks striking from every angle. Manufactured in 1955, it is finished in black with a contrasting biscuit interior. The engine has been fitted with a fully rebuilt C Type cylinder head, including new inlet and exhaust valves with new hardened valve seats and new timing chains. The overdrive, which is original equipment on this particular model, was overhauled and enables the car to happily cruise at high speed. A new interior is complemented by the original walnut dashboard and door trims, fully restored to a very high standard. A new Moto-Lita steering wheel adds the finishing touch to the sumptuous cockpit and all brightwork was either re-chromed or replaced with parts obtained from leading suppliers. This very desirable and rare model is beautifully presented and a must for any serious collection.

Mileage (Miles) 2,201
Mileage (KM) 3,542

This breathtaking XK 140 MC roadster is an original matching numbers, MC specification car, restored and upgraded to the outstanding specification that it boasts today.
This car features twin SU H8 2 carburettors and the optional factory-fitted C type cylinder head, and it is believed that just 151 left hand drive cars were built to this specification. Producing a very healthy 210 bhp @ 5,750 rpm, this quick XK 140 features heavier torsion bars and twin exhaust pipes, and these cars were known as SE specification in the domestic market.
This beautiful car has undergone a total ground-up restoration and benefits from some discreetly incorporated improvements to offering enhanced performance, safety and convenience.
The burr walnut dash is quite exquisite and complements the red leather upholstery perfectly. The mirror black exterior paint is simply fabulous and the car features the correct period black 72 spoke wire wheels and a black mohair hood.
One look at this car will leave you in no doubt that this is an outstanding example of an already rare and collectable Jaguar.
This car was first delivered to Brooklyn, New York, in May 1955, and today it is fully certified by the Jaguar Daimler heritage trust. As you would expect and wish to see, the car comes with a meticulous history file and full photographic record to support its complete restoration. What is particularly nice about this car are the numerous subtle upgrades that will enhance the ownership experience.
These include a quality stereo with Ipod connectivity, a Tillet pedal box, efficient electronic ignition, upgraded disc brakes with servo assistance, polly bush suspension, up rated heater and even an extra 12 volt socket for phone or sat nav charging. Coupled with exemplary reliability and performance, this is an outstanding XK140 to enjoy and a rock-solid investment.
Invoices totalling many thousands of pounds from a UK marque specialist reinforce the exceptional no expense spared preparation of this car.

Subtle upgrades offering an improved driving experience
Exceptional standard of restoration in a stunning colour combination

Offered here is a beautifully restored, matching numbers, XK140 Special Equipment, that was dispatched to the Jaguar Distributor, Hoffman of New York USA in May 1955. The JDHT Certificate shows that it was delivered new to R.S.Scholes of Brooklyn in MC specification which included a C-Type cylinder head. The history file contains a full photographic record of an earlier restoration when the original colour of Cream was changed. The Jaguar was imported into Germany in February 2010 and the history file contains the Import Document in the name of Mr Alexander Krahe. He set about another restoration involving renowned Jaguar specialists Twyford Motors with invoices totalling approximately £40.000.

The work involved retrimming the interior in Jaguar Red leather, the original colour, and applying new Burr Walnut veneers to the dashboard and door cappings. Finished in Gloss Black, the paintwork still retains a deep shine, and the period correct 72 spoke wire wheels were re-finished in black A new black mohair hood and wood surrounds were also fitted. This car features twin SU H8 2 carburettors and the optional factory-fitted C-Type cylinder head, resulting in a very healthy 210 bhp @ 5,750 rpm. It's believed that just 151 cars were built to this specification.

Obviously, with a brief to make this XK a driver's dream, a lot of subtle modifications were made to enhance the driving experience. A power-assisted steering conversion was fitted, disc brakes to the front with a servo, alternator, electronic ignition, uprated heater, seat belts, manual choke, and adjustable dampers. With a 'nod' to modernity and our need to remain in communication at all times, a concealed socket for Sat Nav and a radio/cd player with an I-pod port were installed. Uprated suspension bushes and a stiffer front anti-roll bar are fitted. There is also a battery conditioner socket to make charging a simple exercise.

The modifications to this stunning drophead have been carefully and sympathetically applied to make driving and touring a real experience. The colour combination is truly special and the overall condition certainly makes this one of the best XK140s available in the marketplace .... Alpine Tour anyone?
