A beautifully presented and restored 1955 XK 140 Special Equipment model Jaguar which was supplied new in July 1955 via main Jaguar distributor Charles Hornburg of Los Angeles to a first owner in Malibu. Original color scheme of Maroon with Biscuit interior and Fawn soft top, this is a full matching numbers Jaguar 3.4.
The Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms the original build numbers and delivery details, since when we understand it has always been a Southern California car, thus rust free. A prior owner undertook a body off full restoration to very high standards. The engine, cylinder head and carburetors were rebuilt while all other mechanical components (brakes / suspension / steering) were also renewed or rebuilt accordingly. The electrical system was all renewed. Vitreous enameled exhaust manifolds were fitted with a stainless steel system. Other work included re-plating of all the chrome work, redoing all the Smiths instruments, fitting n.o.s. Lucas fog/tail/revering lights and new Dayton wire wheels with BF Goodrich wide whitewall tires. The interior had two layers of dynamic insulation fitted before being fully re trimmed with Biscuit leather and burl walnut interior woodwork. The top frame was dismantled, realigned, re-riveted and rebuilt. The pin beading is correct and perfect. The trunk is all correct with a set of original tools mounted and complete tool roll. The paintwork is to the original color scheme of Imperial Maroon.
