3.4L Straight-Six
Gdansk, Poland
This Jaguar XK140 SE DHC is a handsome and superbly elegant classic sports car, comprehensively restored and upgraded by Jaguar specialist Rzepecki Auto.
Under the bonnet is a 3.4-litre DOHC straight-six with ‘Type C’ cylinder head, delivering around 213PS to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed manual transmission.
Originally supplied via Jaguar Cars in New York, US, this XK140 is now offered for sale in Poland.
The odometer indicates 2,251 miles, though this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
As a ‘Special Equipment’ model, this XK140 features the sought-after ‘Type C’ cylinder head from the factory, which significantly improved performance from the straight-six engine.
This example was originally finished in Pastel Blue, and has since been resprayed in Maroon with a beige soft top.
The cabin has been retrimmed in beige leather, complete with a wooden-rimmed steering wheel and wooden inlays on the dashboard and door cards.
It rides on a set of wire wheels with twin-eared chrome knock-offs and Dunlop tyres.
Air conditioning and electric power steering have been added.
Accompanying the sale is the restoration catalogue with photographs and descriptions of the work, a Jaguar Heritage certificate, the operating, maintenance, and service books, the spare wheel, a roof cover, and various tools.
There is also a luggage set with the car and original title from the US.
CONDITION
The car has been resprayed and retrimmed.
The most recent roadworthiness inspection was reportedly conducted in March 2023, resulting in a clean pass.
SERVICE HISTORY
The car was last serviced in March 2023 at an indicated 2,200 miles by Dacar Classics & Sports, who overhauled the ignition, adjusted the carburettors, detailed the car, and replaced the engine oil and filter, gearbox oil, differential oil, battery, and spark plugs.
Prior to this, oil services were carried out in 2019 and 2016.
Jaguar specialist Rzepecki Auto performed a comprehensive restoration in 2013, which included disassembling, sandblasting, and repairing the bodywork, stripping and sandblasting the suspension components, replacing the shock absorbers with Bilstein items, rebuilding the rear axle, replacing the pistons and sleeves, regrinding the crankshaft, replacing the valves and valve guides, repairing the carburettors, replacing the timing chain and fuel tank, fitting a new five-speed gearbox, repairing the driveshaft, repairing the electrics and adding electric power steering and air conditioning, replacing the brake lines and hoses, fitting new four-piston aluminium front callipers, replacing the pistons and seals within the rear drum brakes, and fitting a new brake master cylinder and servo.
