This 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC is a left-hand-drive drophead Coupe that was acquired by the seller’s father in 2010 and subsequently refurbished through 2015 by Paul’s Jaguar of Oakland Park, Florida. Work involved removing the body from the frame and refinishing it in Arbor Green, while the 3.4-liter inline-six and three-speed automatic transmission were rebuilt. The suspension, brake, fuel, and electric systems were also overhauled, and the interior has been re-trimmed in beige upholstery. Additional appointments include a beige soft top, dual SU carburetors, a Bell stainless steel dual exhaust system, 16″ Dayton wire wheels, Boge shocks, and a burl wood dashboard. This XK140 DHC is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with refurbishment records and a clean Florida title in the owner’s name.

The Drophead Coupe features an integrated windshield frame, roll-up side windows, and exterior door handles. This example received rust repairs and a replacement driver’s door prior to a repaint in Arbor Green as part of the aforementioned body-off refurbishment. Various bright trim pieces were re-plated, and the badging, taillight assemblies, and split-windshield glass were replaced. Further exterior details include driving lights, fender-mounted mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. A custom-fabricated beige soft top has been installed and is accompanied by a color-coordinated top boot.

Replacement chrome-finished 16” Dayton 72-spoke wire wheels are secured via two-eared knock-off spinners and wrapped in 185-width Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, while a matching spare is stored in the trunk compartment. The steering box was rebuilt during the refurbishment, at which time the suspension was refreshed and replacement Boge shocks were installed. Custom-fabricated alignment plates were fitted up front, and the four-wheel drum brake system was overhauled with relined brake shoes and replacement drums, wheel cylinders, hoses, and rear wheel bearings.

The reupholstered interior features low-back bucket seats trimmed in beige vinyl accompanied by color-coordinated Wilton wool carpets. Refreshed burl wood trim adorns the dashboard and door panels, while a rearview mirror is affixed to a custom-fabricated wood dash topper. The locking glove box has been replaced, and additional appointments include a heater, lap belts, and a rear storage compartment.

A replacement four-spoke steering wheel features a Jaguar horn button and fronts refurbished Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six was rebuilt during the refurbishment by Paul’s Jaguar, while the C-Type cylinder head was overhauled by Vintage Jag Works of Blackfoot, Idaho. Work involved rebuilding the dual SU carburetors and replacing the pistons, rings, timing chains, head gasket, main and rod bearings, and water pump. The radiator was recored, the heater core was replaced, and the fuel system was overhauled with a replacement electronic fuel pump at that time. A 12-volt electrical system has been installed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that was overhauled as part of the refurbishment. The rear axle and differential were also rebuilt, while various underside components were powder-coated black. The porcelain-coated exhaust manifolds have been refinished, and a replacement Bell stainless steel dual exhaust system and heat shields have been installed.

Binders containing invoices documenting various stages of refurbishment work will accompany the sale.

The car is titled using its body number P4952.
