Seller's description:
In dark blue with grey interior. Left hand drive.
Chassis number: S819067
Engine number: G9263-85
Supplied to New York in 1956, this gorgeous XK140 went to Holland in the nineteen nineties and received a fully documented, chassis-up restoration to the highest standards. It is a full matching numbers car with a recorded mileage of just over 36,000 miles and has covered 10,000 miles since the rebuild.
It is a genuine, matching numbers SE with a C type cylinder head.
The car was purchased by a gentleman from the US in 2016 to use for the London to Lisbon Classic rally which it completed without fault.
In order to make the car safe and reliable, and more drivable, the XK has a number of discreet upgrades, all of which are reversible if a buyer so desired.
Engine and gearbox;
cylinder head polished and ported and converted for unleaded petrol.
Guy Broad 5 speed gearbox conversion with new propshaft
lightened flywheel and (lighter) uprated clutch
high torque starter motor
alternator fitted
Cooling system:
original radiator reconditioned with a larger core
electric cooling fan
Guy Broad uprated static cooling fan
New hoses throughout
Braking and suspension;
Guy Broad front brake disc conversion. New front splined hubs,wheel bearings, brake pipes and track rod ends
Guy Broad rear disc conversion. New handbrake mechanism, cables, rear splined hubs, bearings, new brake lines throughout, new brake master cylinder.
New shock absorbers to the front and rear.
Fuel system;
Aluminium fuel tank
Additional 20lts reserve tank with separate fuel pump
Electronic fuel non-return valves
New fuel pipes and fuel regulator
Body and interior;
bespoke front inner stone guards fitted
mudguards fitted front and rear
3M stone protector wrap used to protect the beautiful paintwork (now removed)
Boot rack fitted
bucket seats trimmed to match the interior
4 point harnesses
passenger foot rest.
All the original items removed during these upgrades, including the gearbox and seats, are retained and will come with the car.
Since the rally, the 140 has had a full service including a full grease up, the underside has been fully cleaned and five new Blockley tyres have been fitted.
The Jaguar is in fine order and drives superbly as you would expect. It is fast and reliable.
For sale at far below the purchase cost in 2016. The owner has decided to pursue his long distance rallying fun in his Derby Bentley.
