hello
I was the owner of VAB 599 from 1978 to 1995 - I purchased the car for £1100 from the previous owner who was located in "Tadworth" Surrey England (advertised in the Exchange & Mart!) - The car was just a rolling shell then with most parts striped off the vehicle but also provided with the sale (car was sold as a restoration project).
I made up a good engine up by using parts from the original car and also a spare 3.4 MK1 saloon engine that my father owned - engine number KF 3552-8 (the original water jacket was badly fractured) - it took me 5 years to restore the car and enjoyed it for many years (including several trips to Le Mans!) ..... all the time I had the car it was located in Croydon Surrey and then West Wickham Kent
I sold the car in 1995 in order to raise funds for extending our family home (car went over to the Netherlands).
Please note the car was originally registered in "Malvern" Worcestershire England and as far as I am aware was registered as "VAB 599" from new (I had the original buff log book showing the first owner and registration at new as "VAB 599" - but no copy available now sorry) - the car had many owners before me - mostly RAF personnel and changed hands several times.
Hope this information helps

Factory records confirm that S824050DN was originally registered TUY 917 (Worcestershire).
Worcestershire registration records confirm that the first owner sold this car in mid-1958, having purchased 150 FHC RHD S824533DN onto which reg. TUY 917 was transferred. S824050DN was then re-registered VAB 599.
