Offered for sale in New Zealand for $80,000.
-----------------------------------------
This 1957 XK150 fixed head coupe was sold new in England in November 1957, first registered 950 AHY. It had three owners in England before being exported to New Zealand in April 1973 having travelled approximately 70,000 miles.
In 1974 the car was stripped and prepared for restoration by then notable Dunedin dealer and restorer Lyn Nielson. Following Mr Nielsons accidental death, the car remained prepared for restoration until 1990.
During 1990 a complete restoration was undertaken by Mr Bruce Utting of Wellington. We have full detailed accounts of all restoration work completed, but in summary:
The body was completely removed from the chassis. The chassis sandblasted, rust proofed and painted. All body panels were completely stripped to bare metal and professionally straightened and repainted.
All new fuel lines, brake lines, brake cylinders, shocks, bushes etc etc were replaced. The engine was completely rebuilt with new pistons, valves, springs, timing chain, oil pump, bearings and SU carburettors fitted.
The vehicle had a completely new interior in grey leather with new dark blue carpet fitted. New woollen hood lining fitted. All instruments were rebuilt or renewed as required as was all chrome work.
The restoration was completed in January 1991 after 1,500 hours work. At this point the speedometer was set to 0 miles. Since this full restoration the vehicle has changed hands only once in August 1994 at an odometer reading of 2,750 miles. It has now only travelled 5622 miles since full restoration.

The 1998 JD Register says this car was with Geoff Gallacher in NZ with engine V 1686-8. An early car as the number implies. Only 35 earlier RHD Fixed heads are recorded
