Car was at auction 1/18
www.swva.co.uk/classic-car/jaguar-xk150-1958/
Auction description:
Lot No: 58
SOLD FOR £46,000.00 + buyers premium
1958 Jaguar XK150
Mileage 48,300 (Not Warranted)
Description:
The vendor has owned this XK for 18 years and is parting with it with some reluctance! He states he simply do not use the vehicle enough. The Jaguar has been dry-use only and always garaged - the same applies to the previous owner.
The vendor bought the car from a High Court Judge, prior to this it was owned by the conductor of the Montpellier Symphony Orchestra in the South of France(import documents included).
Judge Jacobs thought that the car may have been rallyed in it's early years, this may explain the 'hot head' and louvered bonnet. A very full history of the Jaguar is included.
The paintwork and the bodywork are as when he purchased the car and he states he has always concentrated on the mechanicals. Apart from the usual replacements, tyres, discs etc the following work has been carried out.
Electric fan - only needed in heavy traffic in hot weather
The engine has been rebuilt with new high flow oil pump and new heavy duty clutch. According to the XK specialist who looks after the car it is one of the best engines he has encountered (K & N Autos at Bosham).
New upholstery and carpets.
We are told it is a lovely car to drive - very powerful and responsive and it deserves to be used more. The Moss gearbox is a delight, once it has been mastered, it is, we believe, close ratio with O.D. on third and top, no synchro into first as per normal.
Faults as listed by the vendor:
"Boot catches not engaging
Door hinges worn
Some chrome bits need replacing
Head lining could do with replacement
To the best of my knowledge there are no other faults or issues with the Jaguar, it comes with a valid MOT. I hope the next owner enjoys the car as much as I have."
Auctioneers notes: The history file is split into 3 folders, the first when she lived in France, the second when the high court judge owned her and the third during her time with the vendor. Also included are half a dozen books and manuals etc and a Jaguar embossed car cover in red. The new owner will have hours of happy reading!
