Auction description:
The Spring Sale
1958 Jaguar XK 150 Fixedhead Coupe
Lot No.: 158
Registration: 270 EAE
Chassis Number: S 824 536 DN
Engine Number: V4624-8
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3400
Year of Manufacture: 1958
Sold for (£): 35,200.00

This original Righthand Drive Jaguar XK150 Fixedhead Coupe was first registered to an A.F Thomas of Cardiff on 7th July 1958. The original log book documents, all of the original owners and a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate confirms that the chassis, engine block and gearbox are original. The car was also originally supplied with a manual gearbox with overdrive. 270 EAE was acquired by its current owner in 2002 from a German banker who reportedly took great care of the car. Documents indicate a major overhaul in 1979, which included an engine rebuild and a bare metal respray. A further respray was conducted in 1990 and the engine was once again removed, painted, tuned and re-fitted.

Finished in the very best colour combination of Cornish Grey with red leather interior, this is not a concours contender but rather an original XK 150 that has been used and thoroughly enjoyed by its current owner. The paint has started thin slightly, but there is no evidence of surface rust and the chrome work is in fine order. The car is supplied with an MoT test certificate until January 2013 and a large folder of bills and original documentation verify the car's history.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
