Above auction description:

1959 Jaguar XK150 SE 3.4-Litre Coupé
Registration no. 3557 DT
Chassis no. S824808DN
Engine no. KF8207-8
Estimate: £26,000 - 30,000

Its chassis number indicating that it is a sought after ‘Special Equipment’ model equipped with the desirable manual/overdrive gearbox, this right-hand drive XK150 was restored to a very high standard by the previous owner in 2004. We are advised that the car was fully repainted in the correct two-tone livery while receiving new chromed bumpers and various improvements for fast road use including up-rated brakes and twin spot lamps. Much used and enjoyed, this ultimate ‘XK’ is said to drive superbly and sound glorious. The car is offered with sundry restoration invoices, current MoT and Swansea V5.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
