I bought this car on 24.9.99 after searching for a long time. The car is, as far as I can tell, and backed up by documentary evidence, totally original. The mileage from new to date is 34,952. It spent the first two years of its life in Uganda. On return to the UK the owner had it resprayed at the Jaguar factory in Browns Lane. From September 1969 to June 1971 the car was a display exhibit in the entrance hall at the Jaguar factory on loan from the owner. It came to N.I. around 1975 and was registered GOI50. With the exception of having the engine bay painted black, the car is as it left the factory after its respray in 1962. The cars story has been told in the XK Gazette of April 2004 and in the Jaguar Enthusiasts Magizine of May 2004. I feel priviliged to own a car such as this and I derive much pleasure from driving it.

I have owned this car since November 2010 is in excellent condition. I did have a back to metal respray in 2011 and I keep it as it left the factory. It now has its original number plate of 3317 DU and drives very well. It is currently undergoing a clutch replacement and a gearbox overhaul mainly to stop the oil leaks from the overdrive. I see myself driving this car for many years to come.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
