Les Hughes, Editor of the Australian Jaguar Magazine, has known this car very well as he reports in the XK Gazette #100 (JAN '06).
This FOXBAT XK 150 was created by Geoffey Stevens who was a hardcore Jaguar enthusiast and a delighful gentleman...[Full text of Les Hughes' chronicle to be seen on the picture].

To be at auction by Bonhams on Sept. 16, '2011.
Description:

Lot No: 217
1959 Jaguar XK150 3.4-Litre 'Foxbat' Sports Estate
Registration no. 558 NOT (see text)
Chassis no. S825106DN
Engine no. V7435-8

Estimate: £30,000 - 35,000, € 34,000 - 40,000

Footnote:
What would turn out to be the final glorious incarnation of Jaguar's fabulous 'XK' series of sports cars arrived in 1957. As its nomenclature suggests, the XK150 was a progressive development of the XK120 and XK140, retaining the same basic chassis, 3.4-litre engine and four-speed Moss transmission of its predecessors while benefiting from a new, wider body that provided increased interior space and improved visibility courtesy of a single-piece wrap-around windscreen, replacing the XK140's divided screen. Cleverly, the new body used many XK120/140 pressings, the increased width being achieved by means of a 4"-wide central fillet. A higher front wing line and broader radiator grille were other obvious differences, but the new model's main talking point was its Dunlop disc brakes. Fade following repeated stops from high speed had been a problem of the earlier, drum-braked cars, but now the XK had stopping power to match its prodigious straight-line speed.
Introduced in the spring of 1957, the XK150 was available at first only in fixed and drophead coupé forms, the open roadster version not appearing until the following year. At 190bhp, the standard 3.4-litre engine's maximum power output was identical to that of the XK140, so performance was little changed. Overdrive and a Borg-Warner automatic gearbox were the transmission options, the latter becoming an increasingly popular choice, while a Thornton Powr-Lok limited-slip differential was available for the XK150S.
The concept of the 'sports estate' is not new; there had been several such bespoke creations on quality chassis before WW2, while in the post-war era Harold Radford's dozen-or-so shooting brake conversions of the Aston Martin DB5 are among the most familiar. The creator of the Foxbat though, remains unknown. One of only two made, and believed the sole survivor, the example offered here resided in France for many years before coming to the UK in 2008, since when it has been carefully stored. It is believed that the car, which incorporates Morris Minor Traveller panelling, was created to serve as a motor sports support vehicle. Previously the property of a French collector, the XK comes with expired MoT certificates prior to 2000 showing the UK registration '558 NOT', and is currently French registered. This unique XK derivative would make a fine addition to any Jaguar collection.

I remember this very car in the early 80's, the gent who owned lived in the High St in Shrivenham Wiltshire. I worked as a mechanic a few doors down from him.... he also owned a mustard XJS V12 manual , the 150 was a common sight back then.

Article in Jaguar Magazine:
www.jaguarmagazine.com/meet-wonderful-man-built-xk150-foxbat/

For all of those cynics who throw up their hands when they see the XK150 Estate - or Foxbat - which has been offered for sale recently, meet the man who created it. He was the wonderful Geoffrey Stevens, who, with his wife Eileen, were our 'English Parents' to my life and I when we lived in the UK. Our connection was Jaguar because Geoffrey and Eileen had lived in Melbourne for a number of years.

We lived with them in their village of Shirvenham, near Swindon, which is where Geoffrey kept his pristine XK150 DHC and where he created Foxbat from a rusted out XK150 FHC which would have been otherwise scrapped.

He was a wonderful man, very talented as a chemist in the tanning industry, and with tools. In his early life he was a Bentley enthusiast who owned many classic models.

He didn't take the Foxbat seriously, and didn't think anyone would, but he loved his XK150s and doing this to a derelict car gave him the chance to attend events or generally chauffeur his wife and two Labrador dogs, Pluto and Annabelle in an XK150.

He later owned a genuine XK-S manual model.

So now all those rumours and speculations about a limited run of cars etc. can go away. There was only one ever made, and it was Geoffrey Stevens personal choice and mission to bring it into the world.

Geoffrey was a very keen JDC member, and is very dearly missed.

This car was posted for sale by Justin Banks Ltd., Tunbridge Wells, Kent, in 2021. The advert page is no longer active; gut is still viewable on the internet archive at the following link: web.archive.org/web/20210526185544/http://www.justinbanks.com/1960-jaguar-xk150- ... along with 35 photos detailing the car, including the plate with the various build numbers. Several major classic car publications also published articles on the car in 2021 and there is a nice youtube review of the car showing its condition and showing it being driven. www.youtube.com/watch (I have no connection whatsoever with the car.)

Note that the UK registration number shown on the car in the 2021 youtube video review titled "Jaguar XK150 Foxbat goes for a drive" shows on the GOV.UK website as a white 1960 Jaguar and shows that it is taxed and is not due until April 2022, so, it may still be in England.
