Car returns to Twyford Motors

Current description:

This Jaguar XK150 drophead coupe is an original UK, right-hand drive car. It's a rare and desirable SE (Special Equipment) model. It was sold by P J Evans of Birmingham, though it appears that despite being built in July 1958, the car wasn't first registered until July 1959. Given this fact we think it is reasonable to assume the car was used as a demonstrator by the dealership. It was originally finished in Cotswold Blue with a Grey interior and a Grey hood.

In July 1959, the car was sold to Hewitts Garages Ltd in Stourbridge, and in January 1960, it was purchased by B H Parr in Wolverhampton. In 1961, it changed hands to Donald Robinson of Lytham St Annes, and it remained in this area for the next few years, passing through the ownership of John Lee and then Brian Cooper Nichols in Preston.

In the early 2000s, the car underwent a full restoration, including extensive upgrades. During this time, the engine, gearbox, and rear axle were all fully rebuilt. The car has been tastefully upgraded for modern use. These upgrades include an alternator, electric cooling fan, header tank, polyurethane suspension bushes, electronic ignition, and more. The interior has been made more comfortable with the addition of bucket seats, inertia seat belts, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The smaller steering wheel is perfectly complemented by electric power steering, making this a relaxing and comfortable car to drive.

On the road, this XK150 provides an eager and enjoyable driving experience. The smooth, fast-road engine delivers plenty of low-end torque, providing instant acceleration and power where you want it. The upgraded suspension, brakes, and power steering make this car very predictable and manageable during spirited driving and well-mannered when in town. The overdrive gearbox is in good condition and allows for comfortable motorway cruising.

The previous custodian has devoted much time and attention in recent years to make this XK150 look its absolute best. The engine has recently been removed, and the engine bay repainted and detailed. Many other cosmetic items have been attended to, leaving this car looking absolutely stunning. This XK ticks all the boxes. It is a rare Special Equipment car, very well presented throughout, and in excellent mechanical condition, just waiting to be enjoyed.
