This Indigo blue 1958 UK delivered model presented today benefits from an uprated five speed gearbox for modern use. Power steering combined with an uprated cooling system and fan further enable this cult classic to maintain motorway speed on today’s roads. Fully restored in 2000, the extensive work carried out to this XK150 included a complete re-trim, new windscreen, and a new hood with accompanying wood detailing.

This is fully documented and the car comes with the supporting invoice from Suffolk & Turley for the amount of £9,280. Since this restoration, the car has been driven just over 11,000 miles. This example comes with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate dated September 2000 as well as a framed XK150 period information poster. Seller's description:

Interior & Equipment

The original interior was subject to an extensive re-trim by Suffolk & Turner in the summer of 2000. Works included complete re-trim of the optional bucket leather seats, new carpets throughout in the original specification light blue.

The supple silver grey leather piped in navy retains an unblemished appearance with a lovely factory finish. The seat bases show no signs of wear, matching door cards with immaculate chrome, rear seats and leather centre arm rest all unmarked. The light blue carpets piped in grey present well. The leather trimmed dashboard piped in navy and silver grey facia all unmarked with exceptional attention to detail. All interior lighting, crystal clear Smiths gauges, switches and electrics work as they should. A wood rim Mota-Lita steering wheel with original Jaguar boss completes this stunning interior.

The best driving model of the final iteration of the XK range in terms of comfort and leg-room... Perfect

Exterior

A full photographic restoration was carried in 2000 and painted in the original colour Jaguar Solid Indigo Blue. The paint finish and bodywork is still outstanding today with a uniformed deep gloss shine throughout, excellent panel fit, shut lines and gaps. The underside is solid throughout having been stripped and repainted.

'Originality' was key during the restoration, all original bright work replated throughout, original badges retained, original Lucas lighting all round with the exception of better performing new halogen headlights with J detailing. All original unmarked Triplex side windows.

A new correct factory specification blue mohair hood fitted with new chroming and new wood to the front, middle and rear. The hood opens and closes with ease and fits perfectly. A brand new mohair hood envelope compliments the drophead coupe... Wonderful

Standard Equipment

Leather Padded Instrument Panel, Gauges for Speed, Rev Counter, Fuel, Oil Pressure, Ammeter and Water Temperature, Wind Up Windows, Door Ashtrays, Cigar Lighter, Locking Glove Box, Dunlop Disc Brakes All Round.

Additional Equipment

5-Speed Manual Gearbox, Power Steering, Uprated Cooling System, Uprated Brakes, USB Ports, Lucas Fog Lamps, Bucket Front Seats

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes

The 60 spoke chrome wire wheels and chrome spinners are in fantastic order. All matching period quality Michelin Pilote X tyres 6. 00-16 have plenty of tread remaining.

The XK150 is the first production vehicle to be fully equipped with Dunlop disc brakes front and rear. The brake system has been completely overhauled giving the car excellent braking feel and capability. All new brake lines, uprated front 4-pot calipers and new discs all round.

Engine & Transmission

The fully detailed engine and engine bay houses the incredible 3. 4 twin-cam straight six cylinder engine with B spec head which has been subject to an extensive photographic rebuild using many new parts, completed in 2000 and has covered a mere 11k miles since.

The original factory fit 4-speed manual gearbox has been uprated to a 5-speed manual for modern use enabling this cult classic to easily maintain motorway speeds on today's roads. A full service has just been completed, carbs and timing set needless to say she runs perfectly hot or cold and sounds tremendous through the full stainless steel exhaust system. The clutch is light and progressive in operation, gear change positive and precise... A joy to drive and what a sound track

Summary

This is an incredibly rare 1 of 662 original RHD UK supplied Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupes and 1 of only 257 built in 1958. Chassis number S. 827151-DN was distributed by Henleys London to suppling dealer A C Bulpin & Son, Newton Abbot. First registered 14th July 1958 to Mr L. R. Weaver, Devon Square, Newton Abbott, Devon and retains its original supplied registration number.

The extensive restoration completed Autumn 2000 has been fully documented with a full photographic record of the car before, during and after restoration. Works carried out include a full body and chassis restoration, completely restored original interior, full engine rebuild, new wiring loom, uprated 5-speed gearbox, power steering, uprated disc brakes, new hood etc. The XK comes with a supporting invoice from Suffolk & Turley totalling £9280 for work carried out to 4th September 2000.

Since restoration the car has been driven just over 11, 000 miles. Today this beautiful XK150 still presents in exceptional order throughout, including the underside.

To prove originality the history file contains an inspection report instructed by the previous owner dated 24th March 2021 from the Jaguar XK Club confirming this XK150 carries its original chassis number, matching block / engine number, matching cylinder head number and matching body number all as per the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Also included are the Jaguar XK150 Model operation, maintenance and servicing handbook, Jaguar maintenance chart, many past MOT Certificates and of course the official Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

A Fresh 12 month MOT will be issued up on sale and of course this XK is HPI Clear.

This is an outstanding example of the mighty Jaguar XK series. Unarguably one of the most elegant sports cars of all time and considered by many to be the best driving model not to mention the most comfortable. Desirable and refined this rare genuine RHD home market XK150 is one not to be missed.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
