The Sept. 2013 edition of the XK Gazette asks the question if the car still exists, last seen in '77.

Two pals of mine - seen in the photo - had started out in the car repair business. After restoring a 3.8 E-type DHC, which had lain by the roadside unmoved for yonks and which they bought for peanuts, they decided restoring cars, particularly Jaguars, was their way ahead. This was in the late 1970s.

Accordingly, in the pub one evening they announced they would find another suitable restoration project by driving around the streets in an 'expensive location'. They chose the Richmond Hill area of Richmond Upon Thames and within 30 mins had found this XK150 in a front garden. Mild haggling ensued and they drove it away for £700.

There used to be a 120 DHC sat in a garden in Richmond Hill in the earl 70's.

I have tried three times to upload the aforementioned picture, but to no avail!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
