www.brightwells.com/3rdparty/orphanspress/classiccars/viewdetails.php
Auction description:
Lot number 64
Hammer value £41,000
Description Jaguar XK150 3.8 SE DHC
Registration 3288 NB
Year 1960
Colour Old English White
Engine size 3,781 cc
Chassis No. S827591DN
Engine No. VA1852-8
Sold for: 41,000 GBP
First registered in June 1960, this particular car is one of the last examples to be made and has spent much, if not all of its life in the north-west of England. The registration is a Manchester number and according to the original buff log book which accompanies it, the first registered keeper was a John Duff of Whaley Bridge. Little is known of the subsequent history of the car but the current Liverpool owner acquired it about 25 years ago and substantially restored it about 15 years ago since when it has been very little used. It has been freshly recommissioned for sale including new tyres all round, new front brake discs and pads and a new radiator core fitted.
An SE (Special Equipment) model, it has disc brakes all round and an overdrive gearbox with a 3.8-litre twin-carb engine which is original to the car. Said to run and drive well and due to have a fresh MOT before the sale, it appears to be a very attractive example of what is now a very rare and desirable model.
