This well preserved late XK150 Drophead Coupe was delivered new via dealer Sydney Marcus of London SW1 in July 1960, finished in Pearl Grey with a red leather interior. The XK has been in current ownership since the 1980s, sitting alongside several other Jaguar classics in a private collection. During this time the exterior was refinished in carmen red, the interior partially retrimmed, and notably the 3.8 motor upgraded to S specification with the fitting of triple SU carburettors. Offered from the estate of the former owner, and supplied with UK registration papers and heritage certificate, this stylish Jaguar is ready to be enjoyed by its lucky next custodian.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
