Car to be at auction 8/22

Auction description:
The Classic Sale at Silverstone 2022
In the early months of production, the vast majority of XK150S 3.4-litre Roadsters were headed for the USA in order to fulfil bulging order books, as is the case with S830475DN, on offer here. It's one of the 844 LHD, 3.4-litre,150S Roadsters ever built and was first registered in May 1958 prior to being delivered to a Mr. Remington of Palm Beach, USA in left-hand drive with the super smooth 3.4-litre, straight-six engine that remains in the car today. It subsequently changed hands after a few years to a well known tyre specialist in Fort Lauderdale who kept the car for the next 25 years and had it professionally maintained by Mike Starcevic of Star Jaguar. Mike was to become the man who developed the Jaguar service and repair network across the USA, so the car could not have been in better hands.
Upgraded with a five-speed gearbox as early as 2003 by its third owner, John Lewis, the continuous service history was maintained with Star Jaguar. They also repainted the car at this point in Indigo Blue and reupholstered the interior in Tan leather. In 2007, the XK was acquired by an American client, well known to Silverstone Auctions, a Mr. Ross Ahlgren, who took the Jaguar to his holiday home in Mallorca where it lived for the next 8 years and was regularly used for tours and Concours events.
Sold to the current private owner, another friend and client of Silverstone Auctions who is a BRDC member, in 2015, the XK continued it’s outstanding and detailed history (all present and correct in the accompanying file) returning to the UK where it then received a comprehensive restoration at marque specialist, Brian Windle. Everything was attended to in great detail and the car today positively shines in all areas.
Sensible upgrades were also made at this time as the car was to be used for European touring events. These include the fitting of power-assisted steering, an LCB exhaust manifold and an extra large radiator designed for sunnier climes, all of which added to the five-speed gearbox to improve the driving experience, particularly over long distances.
Today it is 'on the button' and ready to use having been consistently maintained by the very best in the business. It also comes with an outstanding history file and an exceptional known provenance from new. This is probably the best XK150 S we have ever had the pleasure to offer for sale so please come and admire the real beauty of this car for yourself. It's with us now in Warwickshire and can be seen at any point prior to the sale, or at the Silverstone Classic Sale on Friday 26th August, prior to the car being offered on Saturday 27th.

The Interior
Fully retrimmed interior in Jaguar 'Biscuit'
Expertly fitted leather upholstery
Hardly any signs of use or wear
Opening the door of this XK150S reveals a beautiful example of a fully restored interior. It has clearly been expertly crafted with much care and attention going into its production. The biscuit brown leather seats show little sign of use, and matching leather continues onto the door cards and the dashboard. It is all immaculately presented and would certainly be a pleasure to own.
Matching leather-trimmed carpets line the footwells and the transmission tunnel, and appear to be almost unused. The driver is presented with a sizeable wooden-rimmed steering wheel with a snarling Jaguar badge at its centre. The dashboard is fully stocked with instruments and switches, and there is even a Brantz rally trip meter fitted, should you fancy your hand at some competitive driving.
To the rest there is a spacious, fully lined boot, which features extensive use of leather trimming, and a full size spare wheel sits below the boot floor. Weather protection is provided by a substantial roof, which looks to fit well and folds neatly down when not in use.
The Exterior
Beautifully resprayed in Jaguar Indigo Blue
Excellent body panels and chrome trim
We're informed this body is entirely original
The underside is particularly clean and tidy
Includes a colour-matched tonneau cover
The sleek lines of the XK series became even more beautifully sculpted with the introduction of the XK150. Its curved single-piece windscreen gives it a modern look. During the car’s restoration in 2018, it was clearly well prepared, as the body panels all look to be in good shape and the paint is very nicely finished.
All the exterior trim is present and correct, and the chrome plating is highly polished. There are no significant dents or areas of pitting that we could see. The lamp lenses are clear and bright and the rear badge proudly declares Jaguar’s wins at Le Mans during the ‘50s.
Underneath, the car has evidently been treated well. There is no obvious evidence of corrosion or damage, and the underside has been well protected with stone chip paint. Plenty of parts have clearly been recently fitted - although if we were being picky, we could point out some slightly perished rubber suspension bushes. The car runs on a smart set of wire wheels, all shod in Pirelli Cinturato tyres. Their chrome plating looks well presented and the advanced front disc brakes can be seen through them.
The Mechanics
Original triple-carburettor 3.4 XK engine
Five-speed transmission fitted
Electric fan and enlarged radiator for warmer climate running
Fitted with disc brakes all-around
Below the slender bonnet of this XK150S lies its original and extremely capable 3.4-litre XK engine, glistening in its restored splendour. The polished aluminium camshaft covers complement the triple S.U. carburettors and the aluminium radiator. We’re told that the car benefits from being fitted with power steering, electronic ignition and a long centre-bore exhaust manifold.
These upgrades help to make this already excellent car even more capable and drivable. And with a five-speed gearbox, it is the kind of car you can happily take on long journeys, like trans-continental tours and rallies. It would appear that the mechanical work undertaken during the restoration was extensive, with the vendor telling us that it even included a full engine rebuild.
