Ebay item 2/18/11 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-XK-150-S-Jaguar-XK150-S-Roadster-/260739246249 Current bid $15,300 reserve not met, 13 bids 9 days left in auction. Sellers description: 1958 XK150 S roadster that was purchased from the estate of a Jaguar Restoration expert who was in the process of restoring this car for himself before he past away. The car came to us in primer and many boxes. Our mission is to loosely reassembled it and ready it for sale. The chassis and suspension were previously stripped and appears to be powder coated with no rust repair or apparent accident damage. The body has new sills and shut faces and all minor rust repairs have been done with seams leaded in and currently in gray epoxy primer. The instrument panel gauges and switches appear to have been completely restored. Along with what appears to be totally rebuilt to a high standard, numbers matching engine that came to us wrapped in a plastic bag and a rebuilt overdrive transmission. All major parts appear to be there with the exception of the fuse box cover, windshield washer bottle top, and the radiator braces but we really cannot say 100% since there may be some very small items we may have overlooked. The car comes with over $20K of new parts like bumpers, over-riders, wiring harness, seal kit, hose kit, new painted wheels, new Pirelli tires, wheel knock off spinners, new sheetmetal inner fenders and spare tire pan, door top chrome, wing mirrors, tail light lenses, emergency brake cables, re-chromed trunk and door handles, plinth panels, both battery boxes, fuel tank, 4 shocks, stainless steel brake pipe kit, plus many other powder coated and re-chromed small parts. I received the Jaguar Heritage Certificate which states that this is a true "S" prefix car with overdrive transmission chassis # S831067DN. The car was originally finished in Claret red/red interior/black hood. For the serious collector this car can be refinished in its very desirable original color scheme or the color of your choice with very little bodywork left to do. Prices have soared for this particular model with an XK150 Roadster that recently sold for over $250K at the Barrett Jackson auctions last month! Please do not be to critical on the panel gaps as the body is not resting on a fully shimmed chassis and once the body is taken apart for painting and reassembled it should be perfect. There are no surprises with this car and can be on the road with minimal effort even for a novice car restorer since all the hard work is finished.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
