This car was built at the time the factory was transitioning to the production of the very limited 3.8L engine of which only a few Roadsters were produced with in late 1960, and in 1961, before the Series I E-Types were introduced. This car is the higher horsepower SE model, and one of the first cars built with the elongated heavy taillights featured on the rare 3.8 series of late 1960 through 1961. Its chassis number denotes it as an example fitted with special equipment, and the desirable Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit from new. Interestingly, it is among the very last of the 3.4L Roadster models built.

According to the present owner, this example was owned for many decades by a JCNA judge, and restored by him without regard to expense. The restoration was a body-off endeavor, and the end result is a very attractive and highly functional automobile. The restoration works were also mechanical, and included the engine transmission, and many other systems. While the restoration work was in progress the original engine and transmission were lost to a shop fire. Replacement components were sourced, and stamped to match the chassis plate. A high quality effort at the time it was completed, the presentation remains very accurate to this day, and the car is best described at this time as mellowing into an excellent driver status, fit to be shown locally, or to be driven on events.

The body, paint and chrome work remain very nice, and the color combination is fitting to the car's era. The exact paint shade is light cream. There are very few use marks or age evident anywhere in the paint. The body panels fit well, and the gaps are generally consistent throughout. This example still retains its Lucas headlamps. The chrome shows just light hazing, and is in very good condition. The car sits on sparkling chrome wire wheels shod with newer Firestone radial tires.

The interior is filled with supple red leather and correct wool carpets, both of which are in very nice condition. The dash retails the original factory gauges, switchgear, and steering wheel, and as such, the car has a very correct appearance. A later model radio has been added, however. The soft top has been redone in attractive black canvas, and the soft top was restored. The car is also accompanied by a full cockpit tonnuea cover such that it can be sealed while overnighting outside during driving events.

The engine bay boasts numerous correct details in the way of Chaney hose clamps, the glass window washer bottle, and not-overly-polished valve covers. The engine bay achieves a look of authenticity and correctness, without trying to be like jewelry. The underside is structurally solid, mechanically tidy, and has clearly been included in the restoration work. The car has been driven freely since, so comprehensive detailing may be needed to achieve current show standards.

The car runs and drives well. The engine makes good power, and the valve train is well set up and quiet. The original "Moss box" transmission shifts well, and is aided by the overdrive unit, which is also functioning as designed. The brakes stop the car with confidence, and the steering has a well-adjusted feeling. There is a slight exhaust leak evident, but generally the car is in very good order mechanically.

Included is the original data plate, the full cockpit tonnuea, the matching spare wire wheel in equally good condition, the knock off tool, hammer, an owner's manual and pouch, and several boxes of extras (carpets, emblems, tail light lenses, and more).

This car should provide the new owner years of pride and pleasure. The restoration remains nice enough to show casually, or alternatively, it will make an excellent tour car for someone looking to enjoy this XK 150 on the open road.

It purports to be in Nashville TN which is at odds with details recorded here which say the car is now in the French Riviera. The photographs are 4 years old and have been lifted from the sold section of Fantasy Junction website. The description is a scaled down version of that given by Fantasy Junction. Take care if you plan to bid.

The seller mhamilton72 (147 ) has 0% feedback score and has not responded positively to a request to identify him/her self and confirm details about the car nor has he/she reacted positively to a request for an appointment for a Nashville based garage proprietor to visit to check the car out. There may be an innocent explanation, if so I would happily buy it, in the meantime BUYER BEWARE
