Car was at auction 6/22
collectingcars.com/for-sale/1957-jaguar-xk150-coupe-1
Auction description:
Originally a left-hand drive example, this US-market 1957 XK150 was professionally converted to right-hand drive by its first Australian owner, Colac-based Ford dealer Don Quinton, in the late 1960s.
It was fully overhauled in 2013, with the engine removed and refreshed and a new clutch installed.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Now based in Victoria, this XK150 has been a regular at historic motor sport meetings in recent years, often making trips from South Australia to attend Historic Winton and the iconic Phillip Island Classic.
The car is finished in black over a red leather-trimmed interior, contrasted by a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel, a wooden gear knob, and a light grey leather-covered instrument panel.
It rides on a set of 15-inch polished wire wheels with two-eared knock-off hub nuts, shod in Hankook Optimo K715 tyres at the rear, and new Vitour Galaxy R1 items at the front.
The original Texas bill of sale and Jaguar XK150 service manual will accompany the car, along with a handwritten receipt for work completed in April 2013.
CONDITION
There is no known bodywork damage or accident history.
The black paintwork is in fair overall condition, proudly wearing a patina earned by way of being a well-used and long-distance tourer. It recently received a stage two paint correction to make the most of its current condition.
The finish has dulled somewhat and presents with some swirling, as well as several scuff marks around the body and various areas of cracked paintwork, particularly on the boot lid and roof. The bonnet also features several small cracks.
The red leather-trimmed interior is very smart and presents well following a recent shampoo and detail, however the red finish of the driver’s seat has worn through in some places, there is wear on the carpet in the driver’s footwell, and there are various marks, scuffs, and blemishes on both door cards.
There are no known mechanical or electrical faults, and everything works as designed, including the wipers, lights and horn.
SERVICE HISTORY
This XK150 was treated to a substantial mechanical overhaul in April 2013 at an indicated 3,795 miles. The work completed is listed below.
Remove engine and replace clutch, pressure plate and thrust bearing
Overhaul cylinder head, replace valves
New clutch slave cylinder

SUMMARY
Presented in a handsome colour scheme, this 1957 Jaguar XK150 FHC is a wonderfully characterful car that wears its history proudly. A regular at major Australian historic motor sport events in recent years and offered in fine mechanical health following a previous overhaul, this elegant classic would make a fine candidate for further cosmetic restoration, as well as a usable and head-turning companion for car shows and sunny weekend drives alike.
