Current bid $11,211 reserve not met, 10 bids 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1959 Jaguar XK 150 Fixed Head Coupe. I have owned the car since 1976 and for a number of years was my daily driver. The last 5 years the car has spent most of it’s time in my garage, being started on a regular basis and driven around at least once a month. Due to my declining health, I have decided to part with the car in the hope that someone will do it right and restore the car to its original glory.

The History of the Car.
I purchased it in Dallas, Texas and drove the car every day until 1983 when I moved to Houston and went overseas on assignment. I gave the car to Kent Edwards of Motor Cars LTD in Houston to rebuild the engine and to repair some other minor problems while I was gone. Kent did a complete rebuild of the engine – new pistons, rings, gudgeon and big end bearings, cylinder head (replaced original), rebuilt the carburetors, balanced the engine and replaced the clutch assy., along with a brake overhaul. I drove the car on a regular basis from 1985 until 1986 when the Company gave me a 4 door sedan to haul clients around in. When the engine was rebuilt the speedometer was also repaired and reset to zero miles. The engine has done 14544 miles since the rebuild. A compression test shows a range of 152 to 160 PSI, oil pressure is 60 PSI (hot). There is a single 12 volt battery installed instead of two 6 volt batteries but all the wiring to convert to original is still in place.

The paint is not original. The previous owner had the car repainted but I do not know why. I have not seen any area on the car where panel work has been done so I am baffled that this was done. The original Burgundy color would have looked far better. The right side interior door panels have been removed as I was replacing the window guide seals and quarter window seals. Some of the window chrome strips are off the car but available

According to the books I have, the chassis was laid in 1957 and the car assembled in 1958, shipped to the States and sold in 58/59. The registration and insurance are current and a clear Title is with the car.

All the numbers on the plate match except for the cylinder head.

At various times since 1986, the following have been repaired, replaced and or added,

Fuel Tank, lines and fuel pump, fuel glass bowl filter

Radiator cooling shroud

Steel Exhaust System and Mufflers

Brake Vacuum Servo ( I still have the original that can be rebuilt)

Clutch Master and Slave cylinder

Brake Master Cylinder

Brake Calipers rebuilt

Starter Motor

All 4 Wheel Splines Replaced

5 New Chrome Spoke wheels and tires

Parts and literature that will go with the car.

A collection of Lucas electrical parts including Voltage Regulator, Distributor Cap, Rotor, Distributor Condenser, spare bulbs, Fuses etc.

Two complete spare sets of Disc Pads (Round type), 2 Original type Oil Filters, 2 new Inner Tubes, Intake Manifold, a complete Gasket Kit, various hoses and parts to rebuild front end.

There are also new front and rear window seals plus various door and trunk seals.

A box of test equipment including a Color Tune Kit, Carb Sync Kit, Air Flow Sync, Vacuum Gauge and Cam Alignment Tool.

A collection of manuals and various books on the XK150

40 plus EJAG magazines with great tech articles on the XK in each issue, out of publication now.

What is wrong with the car.

The car (50 years old) is showing her age. It needs to be restored as the interior and paint are in bad shape. The rear jump seats need to be upholstered and the front seats are vinyl. All carpet and head liner need replacing. A closer look at the photos will show the “orange peel” effect on the paint. In some of the photos the exterior paint looks yellow or orange but trust me, it’s all red (or a burnt orange color). The right side air vent was left open by my wife and it hit the garage post on the way in. I have all the parts but some body work is required. There are some dents on the body around the front right bumper area and on front fender and some scratches on the paint job. Around the headlight areas there are some indications of rust (paint has bubbled) no other rust evident. Front window needs to be replaced (cracked). Brake Vacuum assist needs to be replaced. Brake and Clutch fluid reservoirs need to be replaced – starting to rust. Windscreen washers and vacuum need work. Window and door seals to be replaced – in with spares and the clock does not work. As with most old Jags – some minor oil leaks. Car can still be driven but would not take on journey longer than 50 miles.

Car is located near Richmond, Texas, about 35 miles west of Houston. There is a reserve on the car but it is a reasonable one, much less than $28k and I expect to be able to sell the car during this auction.

I think this a wrong post. The numbers fit S834630 except the Body which is J 7722 Built 1957 October
Both numbers would be or are a Discovery

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
