Lot #151904

This 1958 Jaguar XK150 fixed-head coupe was manufactured in November 1957 and distributed through Jaguar Cars of New York, and the vehicle was refurbished in the late 1990s while under the care of its long-term second owner. Finished in gray over red leather, the car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a stainless-steel exhaust system, 16″ wire wheels, disc brakes, dual side mirrors, and adjustable seats. An engine-out service in 2018 involved replacement of the clutch, clutch cylinders, engine mounts, radiator mounts, oil-pressure line, transmission seals, steering-rack mounts, and shifter boot. This XK150 coupe was acquired by the current owner in late 2023 and is now offered in Pennsylvania on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a clean Montana title under the owner’s LLC.

The car was finished from the factory in Pearl Grey and was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a one-piece windshield, bright trim, fender-mounted dual side mirrors, dual exhaust exits, and full-width chrome bumpers with overriders. The seller notes that the exterior chrome exhibits wear, and the car has an antenna hole in the right-front fender but lacks an antenna.

Body-color 16″ wire wheels are mounted with 6.00R16 Excelsior Stahl Sport Radial tires. A full-size spare is stored under the trunk floor, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The steering-rack mounts were replaced in 2018, and the brakes were overhauled around the same time by rebuilding the calipers and replacing the master cylinder, rotors, and wheel bearings.

The interior reportedly was redone during the refurbishment with red leather seat upholstery and dashboard trim by G.W. Bartlett Co. of Muncie, Indiana. Interior appointments include adjustable seats, a cabin heater, sun visors, lap belts, a defroster, wind-up side windows, storage pockets in the door panels, and a folding rear bulkhead with a pass-through to the trunk. The shifter boot was replaced in 2018. The headliner has been patched on the passenger side.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 6k-rpm tachometer with an embedded clock as well as a 140-mph speedometer and an ammeter alongside gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership. The clock does not work, and the tachometer is sluggish to respond.

The 3,442cc inline-six featured dual SU HD6 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 210 horsepower and 213 lb-ft of torque. An engine-out service in 2018 included replacement of the engine mounts, radiator mounts, oil-pressure line, and head-pipe gaskets. The cam-cover gasket was replaced in 2020. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale.

The stamping on the engine block is shown above. The cylinder head has been replaced.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Moss four-speed manual gearbox. The front and rear transmission seals were replaced in 2018 along with the clutch and its cylinders, and the flywheel was resurfaced; a $4,900 receipt from Tom Reinsmith Precision Imports of Emmaus, Pennsylvania is viewable in the gallery. A stainless-steel exhaust is installed. The transmission requires double-clutching when shifting into second gear, per the selling dealer. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate lists a manufacture date of November 7, 1957, along with factory identification numbers and specifications.
