Car offered at:
collectingcars.com/for-sale/1958-jaguar-xk150-fhc
Seller's description:
This Jaguar XK150 FHC is a characterful and useable example of the treasured British classic, finished in a desirable colour scheme and fitted with a more powerful Jaguar engine.
Under the bonnet is a retrofitted 3.8-litre ‘XK’ straight-six usually found in the ‘S’ model and the early Jaguar E-Type, fed by triple SU carburettors and producing up to 265bhp, which is sent directly to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
The five-digit odometer displays 55,995 miles, however this is not warranted.
The seller believes that the car was built as a left-hand drive example which was later converted to right-hand drive.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This XK150 is finished in British Racing Green over a green leather-trimmed interior with matching green carpets, offset by a cream leather-trimmed instrument panel, a black Bakelite-rimmed steering wheel and gear knob, and a number of polished metal trim accents.
It rides on a set of 15-inch polished wire wheels with two-eared knock-off hub nuts, shod in Supertrac Power Touring tyres.
This example is fitted with no-original chrome ‘S’ badges on the top front of the doors, and has also been retrofitted with a third ‘high-level’ brake light positioned in the rear window.
The seller notes that the car is also believed to have been converted from left to right-hand drive.
Sadly, the original owner’s manual and tool kit are missing, though the maintenance receipts from the past two years, totalling over $70,000 AUD, accompany the sale.
The car’s number plate is not included in the sale.
CONDITION
The British Racing Green paintwork has previously been resprayed and is described by the seller as being in fair condition, showing various signs of wear including chips, cracks, bubbling, scratches, and micro blistering, all of which can be viewed in the extensive image gallery of the car.
Inside, the reupholstered cabin presents very well, with the seller noting light wear on the driver’s seat. There are also several heavier scratches in the leather on the driver’s outer bolster, scuffs on the leather gear gaiter, and various marks and stains on the carpets. There is also staining on the cream headlining, cracks on the steering wheel, and a general time-worn ‘patina’ throughout.
The seller is not aware of any electrical or mechanical faults.
SERVICE HISTORY
The seller notes the car is missing its service history prior to the past two years, during which time it is noted that more than $70,000 AUD has been spent on a mechanical overhaul.
Presented in a handsome and ever-popular colour scheme, this 1958 Jaguar XK150 FHC is a wonderfully characterful classic. Now powered by an uprated engine and offered in fine mechanical health following an extensive mechanical overhaul, it is ready to drive and enjoy immediately. While it would benefit from some cosmetic attention to bring it back to its former glory, this XK150 would then make a fine companion for any number of classic car shows, as well as a charming weekend driver.
