Lot #129879
This 1958 Jaguar XK150 coupe was acquired by the current owner in 1980 and underwent a refurbishment from 2012 to 2015. The car is finished in white over red leather upholstery and powered by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 16” knockoff wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, wing-mounted side mirrors, a dual exhaust system, air conditioning, and dual SU carburetors. This XK150 is now offered on dealer consignment with service records since 2012, an owner’s handbook, a car cover, and a New Jersey title.
The car was repainted in white during the aforementioned refurbishment after rust repairs and bodywork were performed. The chrome bumpers and trim were refinished or replaced, and the windshield and rubber door seals were replaced. Additional equipment includes vented quarter windows, wing-mounted side mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets.
Replacement 16” knockoff wire wheels are mounted with Coker Classic tires. A spare is stowed beneath the trunk floor. The suspension and four-wheel disc brakes were overhauled during the refurbishment. The master cylinder was replaced in May 2017.
The cabin features bucket seats retrimmed in red leather along with a color-coordinated headliner, door panels, and carpets. Appointments include lap belts, a passenger-side grab handle, floor mats, and a locking glove box. An aftermarket air conditioning system is mounted under the dashboard.
Centrally located Smiths instrumentation consists of a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline and an inset clock as well as a 140-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer does not work and currently shows 77k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. The engine was overhauled in 2014 by Charleston Import Automotive, and additional at that time work involved rebuilding the carburetors and replacing the wiring harness, fuel tank, alternator, water pump, and engine mounts. The ignition coil was replaced in 2019, while the distributor was repaired and the battery was replaced in 2020. An oil change was performed in May 2023. A service record presented in the gallery below indicates that the temperature gauge needs to be rebuilt.
A photo of the cylinder head stamping is provided above.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt during the refurbishment. An overdrive unit and a stainless-steel Bell exhaust system are also equipped.
A Union Jack-themed car cover is included in the sale along with an owner’s handbook and service records beginning in 2012.
Body number J8118 is shown on the chassis plate and the New Jersey title lists J8118Z as the VIN.

Best in Class at the "Cats in the Garden" Jaguar event
A wonderful example of a proper British automobile comes this 1958 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe. A recipient of a two-year, $100,000 restoration, known history begins with Manhattan native, Daniel Barteluce. The story starts in 1971 when Dan and his wife traded in a recent wedding gift, a 1965 Chevy Van. Using that money, they bought this Jaguar from Daniel's brother-in-law, who had acquired this XK150 from the original owner just a few months before. The feature story in the 2016 Spring issue of the Jaguar Touring Club, Mr. Barteluce recalls the car being in great shape with around 33,000 original miles. It became his daily driver and he found himself driving it all over, noting that the electric overdrive made it a dream on the highway. Eventually having children, and life getting busier, the Jag was stored away in the garage and left there for 30 years until 2012 when he decided it was finally time to bring her back to life.
