This 1959 Jaguar XK150 fixed head coupe was completed on December 31, 1958 and delivered to its original owner in California on March 30, 1959. It was acquired by the seller’s father-in-law in 1976 and spent a number of years in storage prior to the seller’s acquisition in 1997. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock overdrive, and equipment includes an Abarth exhaust system, and wire wheels with knock-off hubs. This XK150 fixed head coupe is being offered as a non-running project at no reserve with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, an operator’s manual, parts catalog, spare parts, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in black, the exterior wears faded red paintwork that was applied many years ago and is equipped with a fender-mounted antenna as well as a dual exhaust. The front bumper, taillights, passenger-side headlight and turn signal, and assorted trim pieces have been removed. The seller notes the presence of body filler on the passenger-side front fender and hood along with rust around the bottom of the passenger-side rear window, the headlight openings, under the fender vents, and in the spare tire well.
The car rides on 16” wire wheels secured with two-eared knock-off spinners and wrapped in older tires that require replacement. Braking is through hydraulically-assisted Dunlop discs at all four corners, and a spare wheel is included in the sale.
The cabin has been partially stripped, though the passenger-side door panel and seat backs remain. The dashboard has been dismantled, the headliner is torn, and the floor panels have been removed. The seller notes that the driver’s door hinge has been repaired.
A four-spoke steering wheel with red accents sits ahead of a centrally-mounted instrument panel housing Smiths instrumentation including a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just over 95k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six was factory rated at 190 horsepower and is said to have been rebuilt and bored .040″ over some time in the 1970s. The seller reports that an Abarth exhaust system has been installed.
Engine block stamping number V6203-8 matches the number stamped on the cylinder head and removed chassis plate, as well as that listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Moss four-speed manual transmission with Laycock overdrive that is said to have been sourced from a Jaguar sedan. Corrosion is visible on the underside.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers as well as a completion date of December 31, 1958.
Several spare and removed parts accompany the vehicle and are detailed in the gallery below. Replacement parts include a Bassett’s wiring harness, reproduction fuel tank, and tune-up and brake components.
