Lot #87961

This 1961 Jaguar XK150 is a is a left-hand-drive fixed-head coupe that was built on August 16, 1960 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars of Canada. Said to have been acquired by the seller’s father in May 1971, the car is finished in British Racing Green over Suede Green leather and is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six mated to a three-speed automatic transmission equipped with intermediate speed hold. Equipment include a fender-mounted side mirror, Lucas driving lamps, chrome bumpers with overriders, 16″ Dayton wire wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes. The engine and transmission were reportedly overhauled prior to the seller’s acquisition in 2011, and subsequent work is said to have included fluid changes, a suspension overhaul, rebuilds of the SU carburetors, and replacement of the fuel pump, batteries, spark plugs, freeze plugs, front suspension bushings, and wheels and tires. This XK150 is now offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, Jaguar Clubs of North America awards, a tool kit, a spare set of five wire wheels, service records, assorted spare parts, and an Ontario registration document in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in British Racing Green with chrome bumpers and brightwork, and the car features a fender-mounted left side mirror, Lucas front driving lamps, and dual exhaust outlets.

The car is equipped with a four-wheel disc brake system, and the brakes were reportedly overhauled under current ownership with rebuilt calipers and replacement rotors and hoses. Dayton wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and mounted with 16″ Michelin tires. A set of five painted wire wheels mounted with period Dunlop tires will accompany the car.

Cabin finishes include Suede Green leather upholstery accompanied by color-coordinated door panels and rear seats. The switch adjacent to the steering wheel engages the intermediate speed hold switch, and additional equipment includes a four-spoke steering wheel, a cabin heater, and a transistor radio. Wear is depicted on portions of the front seat upholstery, and the interior materials.

Centralized Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as an ammeter and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles.

The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six features a painted cylinder head and polished camshaft covers and is equipped with dual SU carburetors. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission equipped with intermediate speed hold. The powertrain components were rebuilt several years ago according to the seller, who notes the carburetors were rebuilt and the fuel pump, batteries, spark plugs, freeze plugs, and hoses were replaced within the past seven years. A compression test was recently performed by the seller, and the results can be seen in the gallery.

Engine number VA1969-8 is stamped on the engine block and can also be seen stamped on the cylinder head. Both stamps correspond to the engine number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and chassis plate.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists a build date of August 16, 1960, and notes the original colors and identification numbers. Items that will accompany the car include a tool kit, jacking equipment, the aforementioned wire wheels, and manufacturer’s literature.
