Sellers description:
You can imagine my excitement when I found this exceedingly rare 1958 Jaguar XK150 DHC sitting forgotten in an old hay shed. A find like this just doesn't come along everyday. A talk with the late owner's widow revealed that it had been purchased by them in 1965 and driven only rarely, being last registered in 1967. Years ago, the late owner started to restore the car and was in the process of working the body down for paint when a flash flood filled his garage. The car was filled with debris and silt, and the interior ruined. The owner then lost interest and the car eventually ended up being parked in the hay shed where it was sitting when he passed away, and where it was still sitting when I found it. I was able to purchase the car and receive a clear and correct Virginia title from 1965 as well as the original body ID plate. The car needs a total restoration. From what I could see, the frame appears to still be in good shape but there is a lot of surface rust and pitting on the body and undercarriage, along with a healthy amount of rusted-through areas, although there still is a decent amount of hard metal to work with. The doors will open and close but not all the way, they do not line up properly - this will need to be corrected during restoration. The steering is frozen in position and the condition of original engine is unknown, but the front wheels do roll. The hood had been forced open before I found the car, so there is a little bit of damage on the interior aluminum structure where it connects with the underside of the aluminum hood. The hood hinges were frozen in position so I unbolted them, which then allowed the hood to sit more properly on the car. The trunk lid skin has seperated from the inner structure. Round rear emblem above trunk lid handle reads "Jaguar XK 150, Winner Le Mans 1951 1953 1955 1956 1957". I was able to locate a few extra parts in the shed such as the original aluminum gauge surround, aluminum back tray, the other headlight bezel, upper door glass chrome frames, an extra exhaust manifold in good condition and several other small items. The original exterior color appears to have been white and the interior red. As soon as I purchased the car, I immediately placed it back in dry storage in my garage the same day I moved it.
