Auction description:

The Enthusiast Auction | April 2025

1959 Jaguar XK150S Drophead Coupe

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

30-year comprehensive restoration completed in 2022

Just two owners for 60 years

Desirable and sought-after S model with 250-HP 3.4-litre inline six-cylinder engine paired with a four-speed manual gearbox

Updated with a Vintage Air air-conditioning system for a more comfortable driving experience

VIN: S838150BW

Offered from the estate of Max Munn is this beautifully restored 3.4-litre Jaguar XK150S Drophead Coupe. Purchased sometime in the mid-1960s by the late Max Munn, this Jaguar was his pride and joy. He lovingly kept this example, before reluctantly selling it in 1970, as his family grew and business demands drew his focus elsewhere. Mr. Munn would suffer from serious seller's remorse. He set out to find and buy the car back and was successful in acquiring it again sometime in the mid 1980s after an approximate 15-year absence. The car had been enjoyed by the interim owner and was disassembled for a full restoration. Mr. Munn didn't mind, and bought the car back nonetheless, much of it in boxes.

He set out on a painstaking 30-plus year restoration. The paint, chrome, trim, gaps, and panel fit present well. The car is strikingly finished in Jaguar Black with its distinctive twin seats covered in rich red leather hides. During the car's comprehensive overhaul, an attractive Vintage Air air-conditioning system was installed utilizing all modern components under the hood and allowing for a wonderful driving experience even on inclement days when the top is raised over long distances.

Now complete, the end result is sensitive to the originality of this rare and highly sought-after S variant of the 150 model, yet with subtle upgrades to improve daily drivability and long-distance comfort. Offered without reserve from the estate of a caring and attentive long-term owner, this XK150S Drophead is sure to please its next steward for decades to come.
