Notes from the XK Gazette - Market Observer:
Mecum Auction Hyatt Regency, Monterey, California August 10 2009

S838490 1960 (Built 1959 October) 150 Drophead 3.8 White with red trim in immaculate and it appears original order. No numbers but it does claim a Heritage Certificate and that they do match. Ground up restoration and over $110,000 in receipts. The description says rare high compression head and 220 bhp but with only 2 carbs showing it could not be an ā€œSā€ Estimate $90 ā€“110,000 but not sold at a high bid of only $60K

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
