Ebay item 10/21/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK-1959-Jaguar-XK150-Drophead-/180577164273
Current bid $2,025 reserve not met, 3 bids 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Original 1959 Jaguar Drophead Coupe that appears to be complete but will need a full restoration. The transmission is manual and equipped with overdrive and the engine is a 3.8 litre. The color is British Racing Green with Suede Green interior. Chassis No. is S838562DN / Body No. P8051 / Engine No. VA1351-8
and Gear Box No. JLS45016JS.

It was last registered in California in 1971 and has been in storage ever since. The odometer reads 02872 miles but, even though it was on the road for only 11 years or so, it is more likely 102,872. As shown in the photos some of the rust areas are in the process of being replaced with new metal. The trunk floor has been replaced as well as below the rear deck and the rocker panels. There is a section in front of the left rear wheel that was cut out but the new sections (included) have not been installed. The front wing and door panels are very straight with no waves in the metal which leads me to believe it probably has not been involved in an accident. The car is exactly like it was when I purchased it 20+ years ago. The oil was drained and replaced with new years ago and the plugs were removed and the cylinders were filled with Marvel Mystery oil. Although not shown, the wood for the two rear jumpseats as well as all of the interior panels (bad shape) are also included.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
