This XK-150 received a spectacular, no-expense spared restoration done by Jaguar professionals in one of the finest shops in the United States. You are looking at an exceptionally rare and concours show condition '61 Jaguar Drophead Coupe. The famed XK-150 was made from 1957 to 1961. The 150 had a very capable 3.4 liter engine, but in 1960 toward the end of this model, Jaguar began to offer the 3.8 liter engine that would subsequently go into the famed successor, the XK-E. This bored out engine produced a healthy 220 horsepower and disc brakes were added for the first time. Precise steering was by rack and pinion. Due to the increased cost and higher taxes in England for the 3.8, relatively few of this last of the 150s were made, adding to their desirability and collector's value.

This particular car was an outstanding driver car that was treated to a two and a half year complete nut and bolt restoration to the very highest standards by marque and especially XK-150 model experts, JK Restorations. The owner showed the car and won consistent 100-point Jaguar Club of North America scores as well as other wins at concours events. Eventually the car was sold to a west coast car collector who has continued to show the car with numerous first place wins. It is a numbers matching authenticated car with Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

The XK-150 Drophead is the most expensive of the 150s to restore, so this particular car, already completely restored to perfection, represents a tremendous value as well as highly collectable due to the rare 3.8 liter engine and the last year of this model. It is finished in a beautiful Imperial Maroon with tan leather and top. It is very complete with all tools, jack, books, extra manuals and period brochures. It also has fitted luggage in maroon.

With its many options, extensive brightwork, and handcrafted body, restoration of an XK150 can be a daunting prospect. However, a two-and-a-half-year restoration by XK specialists Jim and Gary Kakuska has taken the guesswork out of this car and resulted in a 2011 JCNA National Champion award that was bracketed by four total 100-point scores in JCNA judging.

Anyone familiar with rigorous JCNA judging will recognize the extraordinary quality of a car that achieves a perfect 100-point score, criteria for which are laid out over 180 pages of judging instructions in the club's rulebook. Thus, one finds complete large and small tools included, as well as matching fitted luggage. It is currently finished in a deep red Imperial Maroon over biscuit leather with an operating tan top, and under the hood displays the distinctive blue cylinder head of a 3.8-liter XK150.

Its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate shows production in January 1960, with delivery to Dr. Asa Duggan Sr., of Washington, Georgia, in July 1960. Duggan, a World War II submariner, deep sea diver, and neurosurgeon at the Mayo Clinic, has surviving sons who will make a fascinating jumping-off point for a new owner's investigations into the car's history. In more recent years, it was owned and shown in the Midwest before being prepared for sale by a West Coast Jaguar specialist. The sparkling restoration, concours options, and enduring appeal of the XK150 Drophead Coupe will continue to make it welcome in any circumstances.

According to its JDHT Certificate, this striking late-production XK150 3.8-Litre Drophead Coupe was factory-fitted with overdrive, completed during January 1960, and purchased new by Dr. A.D. Duggan. A man of many talents, Dr. Duggan served as a US Navy medical officer, submariner, and deep-sea diver during WWII, going on to become a respected neurosurgeon in Georgia following the war's end. Prior to the consignor's acquisition, this XK150 was owned and shown by two well-respected Jaguar collectors.

Following a two-and-a-half-year restoration by Jaguar specialists Jim and Gary Kakuska of Oswego, Illinois's JK Restorations, the XK150 was shown very successfully under JCNA judging, earning a perfect 100-point score at the July 30, 2011, Illinois Jaguar Club Concours according to JCNA concours results. Other outstanding results included a 99.930-point score at the July 9, 2011, JCNA Challenge Championship Concours and a 99.940-point score at the July 31, 2010, Illinois Jaguar Club Concours.
