Car to be at auction 2/17
www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp
Auction description:
French title
Chassis n ° S 838763 DN
Engine no. VA 1571-8
- Rare 3.8-liter version with overdrive
- Original engine, restored
- Superbly patinated upholstery
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows that this Jaguar XK 150, delivered in the United States to a certain Mr. J R Weiner in San Francisco, is presented in its original colours (cream, with light blue upholstery), fitted with its original 3.8 liters engine and an overdrive. From 1978 to 1988, it remained in the hands of a Californian enthusiast, Mr. Crow, before being bought by a French collector, the President of the French Jaguar Drivers club at the time who went on long drives in it, as can be seen by the plaque "North Cape Rally 1992" on the dashboard, as well as a sticker on the windscreen: "This Jaguar has done the "Arctic Circle" on Rossvoll Motorstadion, the most northern raceway in the world".
This Jaguar XK 150 benefitted from a major refurbishment in the early 1990s and has had the same level of careful maintenance provided by its current owner, who purchased the car in 1998. In 2013, its engine was overhauled by an English specialist: the invoice totals close to € 11,000 and is attached to the file of the car. The beautiful interior features its original upholstery, with a beautiful patina, a Becker Grand Prix car stereo and a steering wheel wrapped in a leather sheath. The car has been used regularly in recent years, taking part in events such as the Tour Auto, as well as various other rallies and trips in the Alps and in the UK, as confirmed by its logbook that has been filled out since 1988.
This rare model (just 532 with 3.8 engine is in a particularly nice condition, thanks to its regular use and a limited number of very careful owners.
