    Auction description:
    The Astor Collection
    27 - 29 June 2008
    Lot 157
    1961 Jaguar XK150 3.8 Roadster
To be auctioned on Saturday, June 28, 2008
    Sold for $93,500
    Chassis no. S838989BW

The rare Jaguar presented here is reportedly the last such XK150 Roadster exported to the United States, as the venerable E-Type was introduced later in the same year. Mr. Astor apparently first saw the car as it was unloaded from the boat and bought it from its original owner several years thereafter. As presented, it remains very original throughout. It was repainted in its attractive Sherwood Green livery approximately twenty years ago and is complemented by a tan convertible top. Befitting its Special Equipment outfitting, it features desirable Lucas driving lights and wire wheels. From the tan upholstery to the matching dash and carpeting, the interior is very presentable and nicely maintained as well and with the exception of a newer Alpine radio, appears to be period correct throughout.

One of just 42 XK150 Roadsters fitted with the dual-carbureted 3.8-liter engine, this example certainly warrants closer inspection from the seasoned collector or novice in search of the performance and incomparable style that only such a Jaguar offers.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
